Hero Duet Scooter Unveiled In India; All Set For Launch
Hero MotoCorp has unveiled the Duet scooter, and will be launched shortly in India. The Hero Duet will share the same engine as the Maestro Edge—a 110cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that develops 8.31 bhp and 8.3 Nm of torque, mated to an auto transmission. According to Hero MotoCorp, the Duet will return a fuel economy of 63.8 km/litre.

The Duet is based on an entirely new chassis platform and is built from the ground up. The scooter will be offered with a host of convenience features—side stand indicator, front luggage box, boot light, throttle position sensor, telescopic front suspension, remote fuel-lid opener, under seat mobile charger, twin parking lamps, headlight pass switch, and service due indicator.
Another very interesting feature is the Integrated Braking System (IBS), which applies both the brakes when the rear brake is applied (similar to Honda's Combi-brake system). The under seat storage is also very generous at 22-litres, which can store a full-face helmet.
The scooter will be launched during the festive season, although exact dates have not been mentioned yet. The Duet will be available in six colour options—Candy Blazing Red, Pearl Silver White, Grace Grey, Matte Nature Green, Panther Black, and Vernier Grey.
Hero MotoCorp will offer the Duet scooter in two variants, namely LX and VX, and could be priced under Rs. 60,000.
Hero MotoCorp's current scooter capacity is over one million units, and with the introduction of the Duet and Maestro edge, the company will be looking to compete with the current segment leader, the Honda Activa.
