The Altroz certainly is one of the most stylish cars to come from the Tata Motors stable. It is a chic hatchback with European design traits that set it apart from the other hatchbacks in the already crowded hatchback space in India. Up front is a sleek grille flanked by sweptback headlamps. The fog lamp is placed higher up in the bumper, making it look like a split headlamp design.
Move over to the side, and the first thing you would notice, are the dual-tone alloy wheels. These wheels are very simple yet very stylish. Depending on the variant opted for, the Tata Altroz is available with varying levels of Chrome. The side profile and the rear profile is where it looks the most European.
At the rear, half of the tailgate is blacked out and the tail lamps are blacked out too. The Altroz badging is very prominent and the spoiler completes the design and styling at the rear. The interior is stylish and sophisticated while many aspects of it are still simple. Dual-tone interior trim is found throughout the vehicle. The dashboard features a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre. Other highlights include a flat-bottom steering wheel and an analogue-digital instrument cluster.
The Tata Altroz is available with two petrol engines, and one diesel engine. The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine puts out 84.8bhp and 113Nm while the 1.2-litre i-Turbo petrol engine pushes out 108.4bhp and 140Nm. The sole diesel engine on offer is the 1.5-litre Revotorq unit that puts out 88.7bhp and 200Nm. Performance is top-notch too, with the i-Turbo engine bringing the hatchback very close to hot hatchback territory.
Since the Altrox is available with multiple engine options, the fuel efficiency figures too vary. The Revotron petrol variant returns 18.53 kilometres to the litre. On the other hand, the i-Turbo petrol engine returns 18.13 kilometres to the litre. The sole diesel engine on offer is more fuel efficient with a figure of 23.03km/l.
The Tata Altroz is one of the most feature-packed cars in its segment. It gets several interesting features like iRA connectivity suite, Harman audio and infotainment, 7-inch touchscreen, multi-lingual voice commands, Xpress Cooling feature for air-conditioning, etc. In addition, you get features like rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamp, cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation on instrumentation, etc.
The Tata Altroz has since the very beginning, been a desirable hatchback. Over time, it has proven its worth with an extensive list of features, a 5-Star safety rating, and brilliant styling that doesn’t seem to age. It is, therefore a brilliant choice worth considering if you are in the market for a hatchback.
