Zomato & Swiggy Team-Up With Pune Traffic Police In Giving Discounts To Law-Abiding Motorists

Following traffic rules and regulations can now get you a 50 percent discount on your favourite food. The traffic police in Pune have partnered with food aggregators Zomato and Swiggy to offer these discounts to those following traffic rules and regulations.

The police has seen great response to the initiative and the number of violations have dropped. Positive reinforcement and rewarding is always better than condemning or punishing is what a few people believe in.

Zomato & Swiggy Offer 50 Percent Off To Motorists

Well, the traffic police in Pune took that belief to the next level and implemented it in their system and it worked. Pune police was trending online earlier last month when the department launched the Aabhar Yojana drive on 14 June.

Under this scheme, commuters who were stopped by the traffic police to check for documents were in for a pleasant surprise. If the vehicle's documents were in order, the rider was wearing a helmet and there were no pending cases, the policeman would then hand over a 10-digit coupon code on their mobile phone.

This coupon code could then be used to receive discounts at various stores including food stalls. The campaign was a huge success and the police found that most of the discounts were used at food stores and restaurants.

Hence, the police came up with yet another idea, this time just with food coupons and it is a rage. The man behind the idea is the deputy commissioner of police Pankaj Deshmukh.

Pune Mirror quoted him as saying, "The preferences of Punekars directed us to rope in food aggregators to offer discounts to law-abiding commuters. So far, the response has been great, and we will continue rewarding citizens."

Zomato & Swiggy Offer 50 Percent Off To Motorists

This scheme is not being funded by the police but has been sponsored by Zomato and Swiggy. The companies are doing this to improve road safety and lawful motoring habits.

According to the report, a Zomato spokesperson said, "We care deeply about road safety and have been engaging with traffic police in various cities to propagate this message. We are happy to partner with Pune traffic police in our collective endeavour to encourage those who follow traffic rules by offering 50 percent off discount coupons."

Thoughts On Zomato & Swiggy Offering 50 Percent Discount For Motorists Following Traffic Rules

Zomato and Swiggy are both popular food aggregators and both of them are also socially responsible. The discounts being offered to those motorists who follow rules are part of their social welfare schemes. If good food at discounted prices are making motorists obey the law and ride/drive safe, then nothing could be better than these discounts.
