Vijay Mallya's Extreme Car Collection
Dr.Vijay Mallya, the Indian businessman who runs several business interests such as Kingfisher Airlines, United Breweries as well as the Sahara Force India Formula 1 race team is also a vintage car lover. He has more than 260 cars, bicycles and race cars, which has been restored and moved to a private museum.

The Vijay Mallya Car Collection has cars dating as far back as 1913. Dr Vijay Mallya has always loved his cars, and he decided to appoint a special collection manager in 1992 to oversee the car collection. The Vijay Mallya Car collection is now assembled in a private museum in California, USA.

Vijay Mallya who owns several distilleries spread across the globe; he has also spread his car collection wherever he works. Some of his sports cars are now stored in 10 countries.
Known for his love for speed, Dr. Vijay Mallya also owns a couple of yachts. A 165 foot Edwardian yacht once owned by Richard Branson and Elizabeth Taylor is now owned by Mr Mallya. An avid pilot since several years, Mr Mallya flies his two planes—the Boeing 727 and a Gulfstream executive jet.

Here is a look at some of the rare vintage, sports and race cars in the Vijay Mallya car collection.
1913 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost
This 100 year old rolls-Royce was purchased by Dr. Vijay Mallya in the 1980s. This Rolls-Royce was first sold in Australia. It then had a British owner followed by Dr. Mallya who now keeps it in his collection in California, USA.
1955 Porsche 550 RS Spyder
The 550 RS Spyder was the first true racing car from Porsche. It has a great racing history and was brought in to the collection in 1998.
1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR 300 Gull Wing
One of the most remarkable car designs ever belongs to this Mercedes-Benz SLR 300.
1954 Jaguar D-Type
This is a typical race car from the collection of Vijay Mallya. It was considered as the greatest sports racing car in the 1950s.
1957 Ford Thunderbird
This car is Ford's response to the successful Corvette. It is powered by a 300bhp V8 engine. It entered the Vijay Mallya car collection in 1997.
1929 Ford Model A
Here is yet another classic American car in the Vijay Mallya Car collection. The Ford Model A was built between 1928 and 1931. This version is an open top car that was customised to participate in long distance races.
1953 Alfa Romeo Bucci Special
Vijay Mallya bought this vintage Alfa Romeo in 1998. It could reach a top speed of 150mph during its hey days.
1972 Ferrari Dino spider
The Ferrari Dino is a car built in memory of Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredino Ferrari. This white convertible, which was launched in 1972, was brought in to Vijay Mallya's car collection only in 1999.
1966 Ferrari 365 California Spider
Here is yet another classic Ferrari from Vijay Mallya's car collection. It is one of just 14 models built and is one of the rarest Ferraris around.
All American Racing f5000
These cars were used to race from the 1968 to 1982. The ‘5000' denoted the 5.0-litre engine capacity that was allowed to race. The majority of these cars that were used while racing during the late 60s and early 70s, were powered by a 5.0-litre V8 Chevrolet engines that produced 500 horsepower.
1955 Allard JR
The Allard JR is powered by a V8 developed by Shelby. The engine is mated to a 3-speed gearbox and one reverse, which has a separate lever to operate it.
1958 Edsel Citation convertible
Built in 1958, the Edsel Citation Convertible was the top of the line model built by Edsel. It was built on a longer, wider Edsel platform. It has a 6.7-litre, V8 that produces 345 bhp and four-barrel carburetors. It has a three-speed automatic transmission.
1977 Ensign Formula 1
Ensign was a formula one constructor who entered Formula One racing in 1972. Based out of Britain, they scored 133 grands prix, 19 championship points and no podiums. After the 1982 season, Ensign merged with the Theodore team, which eventually shut down in 1983.
1967 Ferrari 275 GTB
Designed by Scaglietti, this Gran Turismo by Ferrari was the first car to feature a transaxle. It is powered by a 3.3-litre V12 that produces 280-300 horsepower.

1974 Jaguar E Type series 3 convertible
The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 was introduced in 1971, with a 5.3-litre V12 that produces 272 horsepower. The car was offered with an optional automatic transmission as well. The 3 series were easily noticeable with its large cross-slatted front grille and flared wheel arches.
