TTTI Celebrates Free-Of-Cost Training In Auto Production For 10 Batches & Over 573 Students

The automotive industry is one of the largest contributors to the economy in India. One of the main requirements for such an industry is skilled employees and young Indians have been taking this industry forward.

There are multiple ways to get the skills required for employment in the auto industry. More than a hundred colleges across the country offer mechanicals engineering degrees and diplomas. However, not everyone can qualify for these courses, and not everyone can afford it.

This is exactly where Toyota comes in with the Toyota Technical Training Institute. Toyota is one of the most-respected car manufacturers thanks to its corporate-social responsibility initiatives. One of its major initiatives in India is the setting up of the TTTI.

The technical institute was set up in 2007 with the aim of uplifting people who are not stable financially and yet are enterprising enough for skills to be implemented in them and this would give them employment in the automotive industry.

Earlier today, Toyota celebrated the successful completion of 10 batches of TTTI. The convocation ceremony held at the National Manpower Excellence Centre inside the Toyota Kirloskar Motor factory campus marked the milestone and a new beginning for 42 students.

To qualify for the three-year TTTI program, the candidates must have passed 10th grade with a minimum of 45 percent in science and maths and an overall aggregate of 50 percent. These students are then put through a selection process which involves examinations at multiple centres across Karnataka, interviews and family background checks.

The number of students selected are then taken into the TTTI program. Toyota takes care of the students' boarding, study materials, practical equipment required and physical needs including uniforms, shoes, etc.

Toyota seems to have spent crores of rupees in the construction of the TTTI facility and equipping it with all the tools required. Students who perform well are all entitled to fellowships of upto Rs 9,000 per annum.

All this is being done by Toyota free of any cost so that a few lives may be built up and the automotive industry would gain skilled employees. The 10th batch of TTTI (2016-2019) consisted of 42 students from less privileged backgrounds who at the time of admission were between 15 and 17-years-old.

All of them have been employed either by Toyota Kirloskar Motor or by one of TKM's suppliers. TTTI doesn't just equip its students with skills for the automobile industry but also inculcates life skills, cultural values, employment skills and discipline in the students.

Thoughts On Toyota Technical Training Institute Completing Successful Training Of 10 Batches

Toyota has been involved in several activities that add to the development of the nation. TTTI has so far trained over 573 students in automobile manufacturing. All of them have been placed at Toyota Kirloskar Motor or in one of the Toyota Group companies.

Many of them have won national and international acclaim for their skill level. TTTI alumni have represented India at several world skill competitions held in different parts of the world. Later this month, three TTTI alumni members will represent the country at the world skill competition in Kazan, Russia. Kudos to Toyota for this initiative and for pushing young Indians forward into the industry.
