Accident Video Shows Why You Should Slow Down Near Junctions On Highways
The video of an accident which happened near Udupi, a coastal city in Karnataka, that shows us why it is necessary to slow down near junctions. A Toyota Innova crashed into a bike at high speed.
The age old adage of slowing down near junctions has been proved to be right time and again. This time, it is the video of an accident which happened near Udupi, a coastal city in Karnataka, that shows us why it is necessary to slow down near junctions.
A Toyota Innova being driven at a high speed crashed into a Bajaj Pulsar 150, sending the rider and two passengers flying in the air for a few feet.
Accidents on highways in India are not uncommon by any measure. Speeding vehicles, unmanned junctions, ignorant pedestrians and careless bike riders when put together, make a deadly concoction which leaves thousands dead every year.
In such a situation, it always pays to be careful and drive safe. Looking both ways while crossing a road, adhering to the speed limits, etc are some of the things one can do, to drive safe. Looking at the video of the accident though, it is clear that both the parties involved in the accident did not exercise caution.
Seen at the very beginning of the video is the Pulsar 150 with three people on it, attempting to cross the highway.
The trio first look to their right and wait for a Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Swift Dzire to pass by and then cross half of the road while looking to their left. With their sight fixed to their right side, they must have surely seen the speeding Toyota Innova.
They misjudging the speed of the fast-approaching MUV and continued crossing the road without stopping. Even at the last moment, the rider did not try to accelerate away from the SUV.
The Innova hit the Pulsar with great force, throwing the three people on the motorcycle into the air. The video taken from a Closed Circuit Camera makes it obvious that the driver of the Toyota Innova did brake, but lost control and steered towards the motorcycle instead of away from it.
The youth on the bike were working as labourers in Udupi and were seriously injured in the incident. It happened on NH-66 which connects Panvel, in Maharashtra and Kanyakumari at the southern tip of India.
Force of the impact would have surely mangled the motorcycle, and the Innova too must have taken a beating.

Thinks!
Accidents on Indian highways are common and we must do all we can to avoid accidents. The best way to avoid accidents is be cautious at all times. Slowing down at junctions at all times is suggested, while motorcycle riders and those staying in highway-side areas are suggested to be extremely cautious about speeding vehicles.
