Ola To Invest USD 100M In Ola Futurefoundry: Over 200 Designers & Automotive Engineers To Be Employed
Ola Electric has announced that the company is planning to invest USD 100M in Ola Futurefoundry over a period of the next five years. The Ola Futurefoundry is the brand's global center for advanced engineering and vehicle design.
According to Ola Electric, the Ola Futurefoundry is based in Coventry, UK and will work in sync with the design and engineering team based at the Ola Campus in Bangalore.
That being said, the Ola Futurefoundry in Coventry will house talents across the globe and will focus on vehicle R&D around new energy systems including cell technologies. Apart from that, the Ola Futurefoundy will employ more than 200 outstanding talents.
This news comes right after the Ola Electric CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal hinted at the firm's plan to develop an electric car in the near future while quoting a Twitter user.
Though Ola Electric currently sells just one product in India, the recent tweet from the company CEO hints at the company's plans to launch an Ola electric car in the future. Speaking about the future, the Indian start-up company has started to install 4000+ 'Hypercharger' charging networks across major Indian cities.
Moreover, the Hyperchargers are capable of charging the Ola electric scooter batteries from 0 to 50 per cent in just 18 minutes. This will add 75 kms of range to the Ola electric scooters according to the Indian start-up company.
Apart from that, with the dedicated Ola Electric app, the user of the Ola Electric App will be able to monitor the charging status of his Ola electric scooter in real-time.
Speaking about the current product of Ola Electric, the Ola electric scooters are one of the most awaited electric scooters in India and the company received an overwhelming response for its Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooter by receiving more than 1 lakh pre-bookings in just 24 hours after the company opened pre-bookings.
The Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro look quite futuristic with their clean and minimalist looks. Apart from that, both variants look quite similar to each other. However, under the skin, both scooters carry slight differences. Where the Ola S1 is powered by a 2.98kWh battery pack, the Ola S1 Pro uses a larger 3.97kWh battery pack for added range.
Moreover, the performance numbers between the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro are slightly different despite having a similar motor setup, and according to official figures from Ola Electric, the Ola S1 can cover 121 kms on a single charge, whereas the Ola S1 pro can manage 181 kms.
Features-wise, Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro come with a wide variety of features such as keyless app-based access, digital instrument cluster, reversing mode, cloud connectivity, alloy wheels, disc brakes, telescopic front suspension, LED headlights and many more.
Thoughts About Ola Futurefoundry
With the Ola Futurefoundy in place, Ola Electric could potentially become an EV giant and the facility could also give all the necessary knowledge to build world-class EVs. Ola Electric could even rival Tesla in future.
