Remote Controlled Godzilla Speeds Past 200kph — The Fastest R/C Car Ever?

A Nissan GT-R operated by a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller hit 200kph as it lapped the Silverstone circuit in England, to help the Japanese carmaker celebrate 20 years in the Gran Turismo games series.

On the controls of the manic GT-R/C was Jann Mardenborough, a winner of Nissan's GT Academy that turned gamers into real race drivers.Mardenborough controlled the R/C Godzilla with the help of four robots inside the GT-R who responded to his every input from the DualShock 4 game controller, you'll find in your hands when playing Gran Turismo on the PS4. However, the controller had one serious modification, a range of one kilometre.

Mardenborough fastest lap controlling the R/C GT-R from a helicopter flying overhead was timed at 1 minute and 17.47 seconds and he hit a top speed of 211kph and he lapped the track at an average velocity of 122kph.

The Nissan GT-R/C which was powered by the stock 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 engine now go on tour of schools around the UK as it bids to get students interested in engineering, math, science, and technology.

The Nissan GT-R is considered one of the craziest cars to have ever come out of Japan and is favourite of numerous drivers on the PS4 game Gran Turismo. The new R/C GT-R lap was set by Nissan as it celebrated 20 years of association with the iconic game series and comes just six days ahead of the launch of latest game in the franchise — Gran Turismo Sport — on October 17. We wonder how many gamers will get the game just to be the remote controlled Godzilla's lap time.
