Mercedes India boss Martin Schwenk found himself riding in the back of an auto-rickshaw after his official S-Class got stuck in Pune's traffic jams.
Mercedes India boss Martin Schwenk found himself riding in the back of an auto-rickshaw after his official S-Class got stuck in Pune's traffic jams.
Posting on his Instagram page - martins_masala - Schwenk revealed the story about why he ended up riding in the back of India's favourite three-wheeled mode of public transport.
Schwenk was traversing across Pune in his official ride - the S-Class - when he got caught up in one of Pune's legendary traffic jams. Instead of waiting it out for an age for the traffic to clear, Schwenk decided to head out on foot. After walking for a few kilometres, the Mercedes India boss stepped into the nation's favourite three-wheeled mode of public transport.
Martin Schwenk's story about his autorickshaw ride in Pune generated quite a bit of buzz with over 7,800 people liking the post on his Instagram page and many more coming up with a funny quip about their own experience with autos and Pune.
While one user stated they would have stayed on in the S-Class and enjoyed its luxurious interiors even in the traffic many praised the Merc India boss for his quick thinking. As always, the usual array of trolls was present with their usual quips including one who stated that the Mercedes India boss was lucky to get an auto driver in Pune who was willing to take him to his destination.
Schwenk who joined Mercedes back in 2002 and became the head of its operations in India in 2018 recently took the covers of the EQS 580 electric luxury sedan. The Mercedes EQS is considered to be the S-Class of the EV world and the 580 offers a crazy 857 kilometres of range from its massive 107.8kWh battery pack thanks to its coefficient of drag figure of 0.20, the lowest for any production vehicle in the world today.
The Mercedes EQS 580's battery pack powers a set of two motors, one on each axle, that combine to produce 516bhp and 855Nm of peak torque which propels the electric luxury sedan from 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 210km/h.
The EQS 580 from Mercedes is the 14th car that the luxury German carmaker has locally assembled in India and is priced at Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom).
Thoughts About The Mercedes India Boss' Auto Trip
Martin Schwenk's post on Instagram shows just how crazy India's traffic jams can be. Thankfully, a good walk and a nice ride in an autorickshaw were just what was needed for the Merc boss to have a good tale to tell.
