Final Ferrari LaFerrari Sells For Record $10 Million At Auction
The final Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta was auctioned off for charity last week fetching a record amount for a 21st-century car.
The 210th and final Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta was sold at a charity auction for a record $10 million (Rs 64.08 crore) last week at the carmaker's headquarters in Maranello, Italy.
Ferrari originally intended to create only 209 examples of the Aperta, the drop-top version of its hybrid hypercar. However, a few weeks ago, Ferrari announced it would be building one more LaFerrari Aperta, bringing the total production number to 210.
The $10 million price tag for the final LaFerrari Aperta was twice what auction house RM Sotheby's had expected the car to fetch. However, a bidding war between at least 12 bidders saw the Aperta hit the 10 million dollar mark, a price enough to see the hammer drop three times without a counter bid.
All proceeds from the auction of the 210th & final LaFerrari Aperta, which fetched a record fee at auction for a car built after the year 2000, are being donated by Ferrari to the Save the Children, an international youth education charity.
The final Aperta is sprayed with metallic red paint along with two white racing stripes which run along its body, while the interior is trimmed with black leather, red stitching, and carbon fiber.
