The proposed rule will apply to all battery-operated vehicle regardless of the segment. This includes electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, and electric four-wheelers.
The Indian Government is making an all-out effort for faster adoptions of electric vehicles in the country. Most vehicles are already part of the FAME II subsidy scheme, which reduce the cost of the EV by a substantial margin.
As per the FAME-II scheme, the government of India allotted Rs 8,800 crore to support electric vehicle buyers. Additionally, Rs 1,200 crore was allocated to set up charging infrastructure in the country. It aimed to support one million two-wheelers, 500,000 three-wheelers, 55,000 cars and 7090 e-buses.
In addition to lowering the costs of electric vehicles, the Government of India is also addressing the range-anxiety issues of electric vehicle owners in the country. India Government is all set to roll out the low-cost charging points for electric vehicles in the country.
Called the Low-Cost AC Chargepoint (LAC), has been developed by the combined efforts of various auto and electronic component suppliers in the country. The Low-Cost AC Chargepoint will cost around Rs 3500 and will be operated with a smartphone. The AC charger point allows up to 3 kW of power to be drawn charging electric scooters and autorickshaws — here are all the details.
