8 Essential Aftermarket Accessories For Your Motorcycle
Aftermarket accessories is becoming a huge market these days. While most of it is being made for four-wheelers, two-wheelers too have a big list to chose from.
Apart from flashy lights and horns that would scare the living daylights out of a person, there are a number of aftermarket accessories that are essential.
In this list, we take a look at 8 aftermarket accessories that are essential for a motorcycle, that will make riding a pleasure.
1. Tyres:
Many motorcycle makers provide below average tyres to keep the cost down of a motorcycle. So a good tyre is recommended. Tyre manufacturers like Michelin, Pirelli, Continental make very good tyres and are available in various sizes. Good tyres mean good handling and better fuel economy.
2. Handlebar:
Handlebars too can sometimes be uncomfortable on a stock motorcycle. If you do not enjoy the position, replace it with a comfortable one. The manufacturer will not cancel the warranty on the motorcycle. The accelerator cable, clutch cable and brake cables might need to replaced with longer ones as well, but an authorized service centre will be able to sort it out.
3. Panniers / Carrier:
If you are a person who commutes with a lot of things, panniers or a carrier will come in handy to store all that extra stuff that you are carrying. Panniers have the option to lock away materials stored inside. There is a big list of manufacturers to choose from. Chose one that is from a well known manufacturer.
4. Headlights / Auxiliary lights:
If you are a person who does a lot of riding in the night, opt for a brighter headlight bulb from your service centre. If cannot be upgraded, aftermarket auxiliary lights are the best option. Chose one that will be compatible with your motorcycle's battery and also, lights that will not blind oncoming traffic.
5. Crash Guard:
Crash guards will protect the motorcycle from small falls or even in an accident to an extent. If you think your motorcycle is heavy for you or not very comfortable, a crash guard is much recommended.
6. Lever Guards:
If you think you are comfortable enough to ditch the crash guard, lever guards is a must. When a motorcycle is dropped, the first thing that takes the damage are the brake and clutch levers. The snap off very easily. Lever guards take the damage if installed and safeguards the levers. So, even after a small fall or your motorcycle falling off, it is totally rideable.
7. Charging Point:
It may look like asking for too much but a charging outlet takes hardly any space and is cheap. It will come in handy if your phone runs out of charge. You can run small air compressors and also charge a GPS if you have one.
8. Air filter:
This is not really an essential but, if you think you want marginally better performance, an aftermarket filter like K&N or BMC will do the trick. K&N filters will not hamper the warranty of your motorcycle too. These brands make air filters for many models and filters differ according to the displacement of your motorcycle.
