Surat-based Company Gifts Employees 35 Okinawa e-Scooters For Diwali
Surat-based company Alliance Embroidery Pvt. Ltd. offered its employees Okinawa PraisePro electric scooters this Diwali. The 35 units of the Okinawa electric scooters were gifted to employees on the occasion of the festival of lights. Each e-scooter has a price tag of Rs. 76,848, ex-showroom.
Speaking to the ANI news agency, Subhash Dawar, Director of Alliance Embroidery, a company that produces large-scale embroidery machines, claimed that the current fuel prices were the reason the company decided to gift e-scooters to its employees. Dawar said, "In view of increasing fuel prices and other factors we've decided to gift electric vehicles to our employees. This issue not only remains in the media headlines but has also affected the financial stand of the company. This will not only save the expenditure on fuel but will also allow our company to contribute towards environmental protection and green appearance."
The PraisePro is one of three high speed battery powered scooters sold by Okinawa. The Okinawa PraisePro is powered by a 72 volt, 1,000 watts brushless DC motor with a peak power output of 2,500 watts which can push the e-scooter to a top speed of 58km/h. The motor draws electricity from a detachable 2kWh battery pack.
The lithium ion battery pack can be detached from the scooter for charging. The Okinawa PraisePro's battery pack can also be charged when it is plugged into the electric scooter.
The PraisePro's battery pack can be charged back to 100 per cent from zero in around 2 to three hours. Each full charge of the battery pack gives the Okinawa PraisePro a claimed range of 85-kilometres.
The Okinawa PraisePro measures 1,970mm long, 745mm wide, and 1,165mm tall. The e-scooter has a seat height of 800mm and a loading capacity of 150 kilogrammes.
To take care of the rough stuff, Okinawa has fitted the PraisePro with hydraulic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the back. Both the front and rear brakes are discs that are assisted by ABS. The brakes also help recoup energy into the battery pack thanks to regenerative braking tech.
The Okinawa PraisePro rides on 12-inch wheels shod with 90/90-12 tubeless tyres. The electric PraisePro also comes with quite a few nifty features including a USB charging point for mobile phones along with keyless lock/unlock and
The Okinawa PraisePro features a rather good looking design with the large LED headlamp unit stretching across the front end of the bike with the indicators set up high next to the handlebars. The taillight is an angular unit that draws attention to itself flanked underneath by the rear indicators which sport clear lenses.
The PraisePro is one of six electric scooters sold by Okinawa in India. The PraisePro along with iPraise+ and the Ridge+ make up the electric two-wheeler manufacturer's 'Lithium Ion High Speed' lineup. The IPraise+ has the same powerplant as the PraisePro but comes packed with a host of extra features and a 136-kilometre range (thanks to a larger 3.3kWh battery) which results in a price tag of 1.06 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Ridge+ is the least powerful of the three scooters thanks to a smaller 800-watt motor, which limits top speed to just 45km/h. The smaller 1.74kWh battery pack also cuts the range down to 84 kilometres.
The other 3 e-scooters in Okinawa's lineup — Lite, R30 and Dual — are a part of its 'Lithium Ion Low Speed' selection. All three e-scooters, the last of which is more suited for cargo purposes all feature a range f around 60 kilometres and a top speed of just 25km/h.
Thoughts On Companies Gifting EVs To Employees
Current fuel prices, despite government cuts on excise duty, are still excessively high. Therefore it is good to see companies like Alliance Embroidery gift electric scooters to their loyal employees. This not only cuts the fuel bill but is a green initiative that should be followed by other companies whenever possible.
