Indian Students Create Eco-Friendly Bike That Gives 148km/l Mileage
Hydrogen, is the most abundantly available element in the universe and on our planet. In fact on earth, where water covers most of the surface, Hydrogen can be a fuel that can relieve us from our reliance on fossil fuels.
A group of students from the RVS School of Engineering and Technology in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu decided to make a bike that would use Hydrogen as a fuel and their results are quite astonishing.
The quartet of R. Balaji, Gowthem Raj, Jerry George and Kalid Ibrahim converted a bike to run on Hydrogen as a fuel for just Rs. 7,000.
The team told the Hindu, "Today, the world needs an eco-friendly alternative fuel to operate vehicles. We have analysed the scope of hydrogen as supplementary fuel in a four-stroke bike,"
The bike's engine did not require any modifications and all the students had to do after every 1,000 kilometers was replace the distilled water used to generate the Hydrogen.
The Hydrogen powered bike returns an astonishing mileage of 148km/litre of hydrogen used and since Hydrogen cost around Rs. 30 per litre, it should be a fuel that India should consider using as an alternative to petrol and diesel.
