Schwarzenegger made headlines when he bought the Hummer in 1992. The near 3-ton vehicle actually comes under a large truck category in the US. Little do people know that he is a very active environmentalist - he said he would convert one of the Hummers into a hydrogen-powered truck.
After the conversion, which cost $21,000, he signed the order to start hydrogen refuelling plants called called "California Hydrogen Highway Network". He also got the US department of energy to pay $91 million for this project. Soon, California took delivery of a hydrogen-fuelled Hummer in 2004.
In addition to this, "Arnie" founded R2O regions of Climate Change initiative, which promotes a low carbon economy.
He says people should enjoy driving big cars and having fun as long as they don't harm the environment. Just a little conversion to the cars would do, he says.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has famously starred in a number of big Hollywood action films like Predator, the Terminator series, Total Recall, Eraser, True Lies and many more.
