Mahindra XUV300 Exterior And Interior Design

Mahindra XUV300 Exterior And Interior Design

The Mahindra XUV300 is the latest entrant in the compact-SUV segment in the country. The XUV300 is based on a modified version of the Ssangyong Tivoli platform; borrowing design and styling cues from both the Tivoli and the XUV500.

The design of the Mahindra XUV300 carries forward the Cheetah-inspired styling cues similar to some of its other siblings. It comes with an edgy design with a sleek front grille with chrome-studded inserts. The grille also comes with a thin chrome strip on the top, which integrates with the LED DRLs on the headlamps on either side. The LED DRLs further extends down to the fog lamps, providing a distinct look to the XUV300. The front bumpers also comes with a large central air intake, which is flanked on either side by the fog lamps.

The side profile adds a sporty and muscular character to the compact-SUV. The flared wheel arches, along with the character lines over the arches give the car a muscular look. The 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, silver roof rails, plastic cladding and the blacked-out C-pillar further add to the look on the side. The rear profile carries forward the same sporty character with stylish tail light design, dual-tone rear bumpers which also comes integrated with reflectors and a silver scuff plate.

Moving Inside, the Mahindra XUV300 is offered with a dual-tone cabin with a host of features and equipment. The dashboard is finished in black and beige with silver accents along the centre console, AC vents and the steering wheel. The dashboard also features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which sit flush at the centre of the dashboard.

Mahindra XUV300 Engine And Performance

Mahindra XUV300 Engine And Performance

The Mahindra XUV300 is offered with a choice of two engine options: one petrol and one diesel. The petrol engine comes in the form of a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 110bhp and 200Nm of torque. The diesel power unit on the XUV300 has been carried forward from the Marazzo and comes in the form of a 1.5-litre unit. It produces 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox.

The petrol engine on the XUV300 is a brand new engine from the brand. The diesel engine, on the other hand is the most powerful engine available in compact-SUVs in the country. It offers brilliant performance, with a good mid-range torque pulling the XUV300 easily. There is a bit of turbo-lag below 2,000rpm, however cross that and you will get a surge of power which lasts almost till the redline.

The gearbox is a pleasure to use, with the gears falling into place easily. The clutch is light, making easy work of the gearshifts, especially during rush hour city traffic. The suspension system is the same as seen on the Tivoli, however it has been modified to comply with the Indian road conditions. This is clearly noticeable as the suspension is soft, offering a very pliant ride even with irregularities on the road. Braking is handled by discs on all-four wheels, offering excellent bite which provides enough confidence to push the SUV harder.

Mahindra also offers the XUV300 with different driving and steering modes, which further enhances the driving character of the SUV; making it more engaging. The steering is light at slow speeds, which slowly weighs up well with increasing speeds. It also offers good response and feedback.
