Hyundai’s latest entrant in the Indian market is the all-new Grand i10 NIOS. The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS comes with a completely new design, added features and a long list of equipment. In terms of design, the hatchback features Hyundai’s latest design language similar to that on the Santro.
Starting with the front, the new Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS comes with the brand’s signature ‘cascading grille’ up front. The grille is flanked on either side by sleek projector headlamps with integrated turn signals. The Grand i10 NIOS comes with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) positioned uniquely at the edges of the front grille; giving the hatchback a more sporty and premium feel.
Moving to the side, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS comes with minimalistic styling. The side profile features flared wheel arches, housing the 15-inch alloy wheels, sharp shoulder lines and creases run along the length of the hatchback as well. The black roof rails further add to the character of the hatchback.
At the rear, the new hatchback comes with large bumpers with reflectors positioned at either end. The boot lid, offers silver elements, adding to the overall design of the rear, while the small wrap-around tail lights complete the look.
Moving to the interiors, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS features an all-new cabin layout. The dashboard is offered with a dual-tone black/grey finish. The central console houses the large floating infotainment system, with physical buttons flanking it on either sides. The Grand i10 NIOs uses soft-touch materials in the cabin, giving it a premium and upmarket feel.
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS will be powered by the same engine options as the older-generation Grand i10. This includes the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines. However, both the engines on the Grand i10 NIOS are compliant with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms of April 2020.
The 1.2-litre ‘Kappa’ petrol engine produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine, on the other hand, churns out 76bhp and 190Nm of peak torque. Both engines will come mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox, with the optional AMT transmission also on offer.
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS claims to offer the best mileage/ fuel efficiency figures in the segment. The petrol engine is said to return 20.7km/l and 20.5km/l on the manual and AMT options, respectively. The diesel engine fairs better with a mileage of 26.2km/l from the manual and 28.4km/l from the diesel-AMT variants.
Hyundai has loaded the Grand i10 NIOS with a host of features and safety equipment. Some of the important features on the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS include an 8.0-inch touchscreen floating infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, partially-digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, multiple USB charging ports for both the front and rear seat passengers, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio control and a host of others.
