Hyundai i10 Compact Sedan On Its Way In 2014
There were unconfirmed reports about the carmaker stretching a compact sedan out of the i20 but it has now been officially confirmed that the i10 Compact sedan will be ready by 2014. Hyundai Turkey Chairman Umit Karaarslan has revealed the Hyundai i10 sedan will be built in Turkey.
Mr Karaarslan was speaking about making Turkey a production hub for the Korean carmaker. He said Hyundai Turkey will increase production capacity to 200,000 units and will begin production of a i10 based sedan along with the i10 and i20. Hyundai is developing an all new i10 whose platform could be used to build bigger vehicles such as the compact sedan.
The i10 sedan will be placed between the i10 and the i20 according to his statement. He also stated that the company was looking at bigger version of the i10 set between the i10 and i20. Production of the i10 sedan will begin soon with a possible launch in 2014.
Hyundai Motors has so far made no statement with regard to the i10 compact sedan being launched in India. However we can definitely say it will consider the i10 sedan as its current entry level sedan, Accent is loosing its sheen due to age.
The choice of the i10 as the platform to build a compact sedan is ideal. It is already Hyundai's best selling car in India. To add to this the success enjoyed by the Swift DZire and Indigo CS is encouraging enough for Hyundai to take the leap. Hyundai Motor will get a much needed boost if it launches the next generation i10 along with the i10 compact sedan in India.
