Maruti Suzuki Jimny Bags More Than 15,000 Bookings – Longer Waiting Period Expected
When Maruti Suzuki broke the news about launching the 5-door variant of the Jimny in India, many were certain about the success of the SUV in India.
Now, after commencing the bookings for the Jimny SUV in India, it seems like the model more than met the expectations as Maruti Suzuki has already received more than 15,000 bookings for the Jimny SUV despite increasing the booking amount to Rs 25,000.
That being said, the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be available in two trim levels (Zeta, and Alpha) and the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer is yet to announce the prices for all the variants of the upcoming Jimny SUV. Speaking about variants, a total of 4 variants of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV will be available in India.
Diving into details, the upcoming new Maruti Suzuki Jimny is powered by a tried-and-test 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated K15B petrol engine. This engine puts out a respectable 103bhp of peak power and 134.2Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, Jimny customers can either opt for a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Since the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is an off-road-focused SUV, the Indo-Japnese automaker has equipped the Jimny SUV with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system that consists of a low-range gearbox with 2WD-high, 4WD-high and 4WD-low modes. Out of these modes, the 4WD-low mode is used for extreme off-road conditions.
In terms of features, the top-spec Maruti Suzuki Jimny Alpha trim will be equipped with features such as auto headlamps, a large 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment unit, Arkayms audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Cruise Control, Climate Control, keyless entry, alloy wheels, headlamp washers, and much more.
That being said, we expect the waiting period for the Maruti Suzuki Jimny to increase in the coming months as production of the SUV currently stands at just 1,000 units per month. Furthermore, we expect Maruti Suzuki to price the Jimny SUV under Rs 10 lakh for the base variant and the top-spec is likely to be priced around Rs 14 lakh mark.

With the launch of Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the Indo-Japnese automaker is now catering to the needs of lifestyle buyers in India. That being said, we expect the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV to be an easy-to-drive, easy-on-the-pocket off-road SUV with plenty of character. Also, the 5-door layout and sub-4m packaging gives the SUV a big advantage over its immediate rivals as well.
