Hyundai Installs 150kW DC Ultra-Fast Chargers On 2 Key Highways - 8 More To Follow

South Korean carmaker Hyundai has become the first carmaker in the country to install 150kW Ultra-Fast DC chargers on key highways across the country. The first two Ultra-Fast chargers were installed on the Delhi-Chandigarh and the Hyderabad-Vijaywada highways.
8 more of these 150kW DC chargers dubbed Ultra Fast Chargers by Hyundai will be set up on other highways across the nation including the Delhi-Jaipur, Mumbai-Pune, and Bengaluru-Chennai highways.
The 150kW DC chargers will not be the only charger present at these Hyundai Ultra-Fast Charging Stations on key Indian highways. Each Ultra-Fast Charging Station will also feature a 60kW fast charger ensuring that two vehicles will be able to charge up at the same time, albeit at different speeds.
These 10 Ultra-Fast Charging Stations will be open to the public and all EV owners to use 24*7. These stations will be manned with marshals who will assist EV owners to ensure a seamless charging experience. The stations are being installed at locations with adequate customer amenities like coffee shops/ restaurants.
The first two charging stations that have been placed on the Delhi-Chandigarh (Kurukshetra) and Hyderabad- Vijayawada (Narketpalle) highways open today (Feb 1, 2023) with the rest set to follow soon.
Hyundai's installation of these Ultra-Fast 150kW DC Chargers comes just weeks after it launched the Ioniq 5 EV at Auto Expo 2023. The Ioniq 5 when connected to one of these 150kW DC fast chargers can charge up its battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in just 21 minutes, which should be more than enough time for the owners to go grab a coffee and a bit to eat.
Speaking about the installation of the Ultra-Fast Charging Stations, Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director - Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, "We are delighted to take another step in the direction of strengthening the Indian Government's resolve for Electrification, that will enrich and augment the electric mobility lifestyle for EV adopters. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has been persistent in its efforts to enhance customer convenience by installing Ultra-Fast EV Charging Stations at strategic public locations across highways and cities. With the recent launch of the globally acclaimed, the all-electric SUV Hyundai IONIQ 5 and HMI's commitment to expanding its EV portfolio by 2028, we will catalyze our initiative of building a sustainable ecosystem for India's transition towards electric mobility, and continue taking our customers 'Beyond Mobility'.''
Thoughts About Hyundai Installing Ultra-Fast DC Chargers On Major Highways
Hyundai's decision to install Ultra-Fast Charging Stations on various highways showcases the brand's commitment to ensuring that owners of its new Ioniq 5 can take the EV on longer journeys with ease. This should also hopefully encourage other OEMs to follow in Hyundai's footsteps which will hopefully create a win-win situation for EV owners across India.
