Hyundai i20 Prices Hiked By Upto Rs 21,000 - Turbo Loses iMT Gearbox
South Korean carmaker Hyundai has increased the prices of the i20 premium hatchback. Prices of the Hyundai i20 have been hiked by up to Rs 21,000.
South Korean carmaker Hyundai has increased the prices of the i20 premium hatchback. Prices of the Hyundai i20 have been hiked by up to Rs 21,000.
Every variant of the Hyundai i20 has seen its prices hiked. The updated price list for the i20 lineup has also revealed that the Turbo models have lost the iMT gearbox.
Prices for the Magna and Sportz (both manual & IVT) variants have been raised by Rs 11,500. All Asta models except for the DCT variant have been hiked by Rs 16,600.
The variants better known for their Turbo badging with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and the dual-clutch automatic gearbox have seen their ex-showroom prices rise by Rs 21,500.
The Turbo variants of the Hyundai i20 have also seen their numbers drop in total as Hyundai has stopped offering them with the iMT gearbox.
The i20 is still offered in three N Line trim levels - N6, N8 & N8 DCT. Prices for the Hyundai i20 N Line variants have been hiked by Rs 16,500. The i20 N Line now starts at Rs 10.16 Lakh for the N6 iMT model with the N8 iMT now priced at Rs 11.19 lakh. The top-spec Hyundai N Line N8 DCT is priced at Rs 12.12 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom). The Hyundai i20 N Line is now the only version of the hatchback to be offered with an iMT gearbox.
Prices for the diesel variants of the i20 remain unchanged though Hyundai is expected to ditch the powerplant when the stricter Real Driving Emission norms come into effect on the 1st of April, 2023.
The petrol versions of the Hyundai i20 are offered with either a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine or a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that powers the Turbo and N Line variants. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine pushes out 82bhp and 115Nm of peak torque and is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
The smaller 1.0-litre engine is more powerful as it features a turbocharger that helps it produce 118bhp and 172Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox in the 'Turbo' variants while the N Line also gets the iMT transmission along with the DCT.
Thoughts About The Hyundai i20 Price Hike
The Hyundai i20 has received its usual annual price hike for 2023. However, the premium hatchback has lost a few trim levels due to Hyundai dropping the iMT gearbox for the i20 Turbo models.
