Auto Expo 2023: Breaks Visitor Record – 6.36 Lakh People Came To See What’s New
Auto Expo 2023 turned out to be an immensely successful event with a record turnout of over 6.36 lakh visitors despite a few major automobile car makers opting out of the event.
The Event
Speaking about the Auto Expo 2023, the event witnessed five global launches and more than 75 products were showcased at the event including a few launches and unveilings. Originally, this auto show was scheduled to be held in 2022 but was later postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Auto Expo 2023 commenced on January 11 and the first two days of the event was reserved for the media and the third day was opened for business. However, for the general public, the event was open from January 14 to January 18 between 11 am and 7 pm (An hour sooner on the last day).
Major Participants
Also, the event witnessed the participation of some major brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia Motors, Tata Motors, Toyota, MG Motor, Lexus, and BYD. Moreover, some of these brands even showcased their concept cars along with their international and upcoming models.
Highlights
Hyundai stole the show on the first day of the event by launching the Ioniq 5 electric crossover in the presence of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. However, the next day Maruti Suzuki took away all the limelight by unveiling the long-awaited Jimny SUV along with the Baleno-based Fronx SUV.
Apart from that, Tata Motors showed its might by showcasing a total of 20 products including passenger and commercial vehicles. Other stand-out models include the Kia KA4, Toyota Land Cruiser 300, MG 4 EV, MG Euniq 7, Lexus RX500h, BYD Seal and a few more.
Two-Wheelers
The two-wheeler segment also witnessed its fair share of action as major two-wheeler manufacturers showcased their flex-fuel motorcycles at the Auto Expo 2023 alongside start-up EV manufacturers who also showcased their technological prowess to the audience with their respective innovations in EV technology and electric vehicles.
Furthermore, the Auto Expo 2023 also witnessed quite a number of motorcycles and scooters from Chinese-owned two-wheeler manufacturers such as Benelli, Keeway, MBP, Moto Morini, QJ Motor, and Zontes. Also, these manufacturers' pavilions attracted quite a number of audience thanks to their wide range of offerings.
Commercial Vehicles
The commercial vehicle segment showcased clean energy technology including a quite a few BEVs and Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV). Also, major commercial vehicle manufacturers such as Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, VECV showcased their clean energy technology based on alternative fuels such as CNG, LNG, and ethanol.
Highlights
Ashok Leyland showcased 7 commercial vehicles powered by alternative fuel including Hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicle along with CNG and LNG-powered vehicles. Other than that, Tata Motors and Cummins also showcased their iteration of the Hydrogen internal combustion engines. Whereas VECV showcased their intercity electric bus that can travel 350km on a single charge alongside its other offerings.

The Auto Expo 2023 turned out to be a spectacular event for automotive enthusiasts across the country as the event showcased numerous upcoming cars, motorcycles, scooters, EVs, and commercial vehicles along with future concepts vehicles and technological innovations. Moreover, with a record 6.36 lakh visitors, we expect the next auto expo to host more manufacturers and even more visitors.
