2023 BMW X1 & iX1 India Launch Tomorrow – Here’s Everything You Should Know

German luxury car manufacturer BMW is all geared up to launch the next generation BMW X1 SUV and BMW iX1 electric SUV tomorrow (January 28) in India.

These two new SUVs are part of the German automaker's plans to introduce 8 new models in the country. That being said, the new BMW X1 will continue to compete against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40 SUVs, whereas the BMW iX1 will compete against the Volvo XC40 Recharge and Kia EV6.

Diving into details, the new BMW X1 SUV is slightly bigger than the outgoing iteration of the SUV. In fact, the upcoming new BMW X1 is not only 43mm longer, 22mm wider and 43mm taller than the existing model, but it also sports a 22mm longer wheelbase along with 31mm wider tracks.

Moreover, all these changes to the external dimensions point out to a far roomier interior as well. Speaking about the interior, the new BMW X1 SUV comes equipped with numerous features and some of the note-worthy features in the upcoming SUV includes the likes of a new dual-screen curved display with a 10.7-inch infotainment unit an10.25-inch driver's display, ADAS, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and much more.

In terms of powertrain, the new BMW X1 comes with two engine options. The 1.5-litre, turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine puts out 135bhp of peak power and 230Nm of peak torque, whereas the 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel engine puts out 148bhp of peak power and 360Nm of peak torque. Moreover, both engines comes mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

On the other hand, the BMW iX1 almost comes with a fairly similar interior setup. However, unlike the BMW X1, the BMW iX1 is a fully electric SUV that comes with a large 64.7kWh battery pack instead of a fuel tank, and IC powertrains is now replaced by an electric motor capable of churning out 313bhp and 493Nm of torque.

With the launch of the new BMW X1 SUV and iX1 electric SUV in India, the German automaker will be keen to dominate the entry-level luxury SUV segment in the country.
