Volkswagen Virtus TVC Released: TVC Features GT Variant

Volkswagen has released the TVC for the upcoming Virtus sedan in India. The top-end GT variant in Red shade is shown in the TVC. With the debut of the Volkswagen Virtus, the German automaker will replace the ageing Volkswagen Vento mid-size sedan in India.

Speaking about the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus, the mid-size sedan is built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform as the Volkswagen Taigun, as a result, the upcoming German sedan is a size larger than the Vento sedan.

On the inside, the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus sedan looks like a typical Volkswagen design that is simple yet very ergonomic. Moreover, the GT variant shown in the TVC comes with sporty red strips on the dashboard.

In terms of features, we expect the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus to mimic the features list of other cars under the Volkswagen Group such as the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Slavia.

Thanks to the shared platform, the Volkswagen Virtus sedan will come with features such as a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging pad, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, a fully-digital instrument cluster, automatic wipers, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto headlamps, auto wipers and much more.

In addition to that, Volkswagen also offers an identical set of safety systems on the Virtus sedan and this includes safety features such as 6-airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ABS, EBD, reverse camera, Traction Control (TC), rear parking sensors, and much more.

Like the Skoda Slavia, the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus sedan will be powered by two engine options. The base engine option is a 1.0-litre TSI petrol unit and this engine produces 113bhp of peak power and 178Nm of peak torque.

On the other hand, the larger 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine produces a class-leading 150bhp of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque.

In terms of gearbox options, the Volkswagen Virtus sedan will come with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions on all engine options.

Unlike the Slavia, the Volkswagen Virtus with the 1.5-litre TSI engine will come exclusively equipped with a more advanced 7-speed DSG transmission. However, the 1.0 TSI unit will get both the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and the 6-speed manual.

At present, the prices for the Skoda Slavia sedan starts from Rs 10.69 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and we expect Volkswagen Virtus to be priced at least a few thousands above the upcoming Skoda Slavia.

The now-discontinued Volkswagen Vento and the Volkswagen Polo have been the volume models for Volkswagen in India, its competitors soon caught up with the German duo by offering more features and space.

With the launch of the Volkswagen Virtus sedan in India, the German automaker can regain the lost market share and improve the overall sales figures for the company.
