Volkswagen Taigun Variant-Wise Price Hike

The base Taigun Comfortline has seen its price rise by 3.64 per cent, the highest across the entire range. In terms of the extra cash you'll have to dole out, the price difference is Rs 40,000, with the Taigun now starting at Rs 11.39 lakh.

Both manual and automatic versions of the Taigun Highline have seen their prices hiked by Rs 40,000 as well. The Highline MT now costs Rs 13.39 lakh while the automatic now sports a price tag of Rs 14.79 lakh.

Prices for the manual versions of the Taigun Topline & Taigun GT have also been increased by Rs 40,000. The Taigun Topline MT now costs Rs 14.99 lakh while the GT Manual now costs Rs 15.39 lakh.

The price tag of the Taigun Topline Automatic have been hiked by Rs 50,000 and the variant now costs Rs 16.89 lakh. The Taigun GT automatic though is the one most affected by the price hike with the prices increasing by Rs 60,000. The Taigun GT AT now starts at Rs 18.59 lakh.

Volkswagen Taigun Updated Equipment List

Along with the updated price list, Volkswagen has also updated the standard equipment list for the Taigun. All variants of the Volkswagen Taigun now comes with the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as standard. The auto engine start-stop setup now comes as standard for all variants fitted with the 1.0-litre TSI engine.

As a result of the addition of the auto engine start-stop feature, the 1.0-litre TSI engine is now more fuel efficient than ever. The engine when paired with the manual gearbox now delivers a mileage of 19.2km/l which is 1.1km/l better than before. The automatic variants now deliver a mileage of 17.23km/l, which is 0.79km/l better than before the addition of the auto start-stop system.

Mechanically both engine options remain unchanged. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol continues to put out 114bhp and 178Nm of torque while the 1.5-litre unit puts out 148bhp and 250Nm of peak torque.

Cosmetically, the only major change comes in the GT trim levels where the Cherry Red inserts can now be found only on vehicles using the same colour for the exterior. All other colour options for the GT variants now get Gloss Grey inserts.

The upward movement in the price of the Taigun was inevitable considering the increasing input costs. Thankfully, Volkswagen has made auto start-stop and TPMS standard fitment across all variants which should help stave off any complaints from owners.
