Upcoming Toyota Hyryder Hybrid SUV Teased Ahead Of The Launch
Toyota has teased its upcoming hybrid SUV in India. This new hybrid SUV has been named 'Hyryder' and we expect the Japanese automaker to unveil the SUV on 1 July 2022.
The teaser of the upcoming hybrid SUV revealed the LED DRLs, front grille, and rear tail lamps. In addition to that, the front portion of the SUV has also been revealed partially in the teaser video released by the automaker.
Earlier, the upcoming new Toyota Hyrder SUV had been spied during the TVC shoot of the hybrid SUV. When launched, the Toyota Hyryder SUV will rival the likes of other SUVs in the segment such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and a few more SUVs.
Speaking about the Toyota Hyryder, the hybrid SUV has been jointly developed by both Toyota and Maruti Suzuki for the Indian market. Moreover, this SUV is codenamed 'D22' by Toyota and 'YFG' by Maruti Suzuki.
A while ago a leaked document revealed that the upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV features not one but two hybrid powertrains options. This shocked many and the leaked documents reveal that the upcoming SUV can be optioned with either of these powertrain units.
While both these engines are 1.5-litre petrol engines, one of the powertrains is a mild hybrid unit, whereas the other powertrain is a strong hybrid engine.
According to the specifications revealed by the leaked documents, the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine puts out a respectable 101.6bhp of peak power. Also, this engine can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the 1.5-litre strong hybrid unit produces a bit more peak power at 114.5bhp and comes exclusively mated to an eCVT gearbox. In addition to that, the 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine also comes with an advanced self-charging capability in order to propel the SUV in EV mode for short distances.
In terms of features, the upcoming Toyota Hyryder hybrid SUV is expected to come equipped with features such as wireless charging, air purifier, a large 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 360-degree surround-view camera, climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, electric sunroof and much more.
Safety features will include features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control (TC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability program (ESP), rear parking sensors, rear view camera and much more.
Thoughts About Toyota Hyryder SUV
Though both brands co-developed the hybrid SUV, Toyota's version of the hybrid SUV will be launched slightly earlier than Maruti Suzuki's version as expected. This will give Toyota an advantage over the Maruti Suzuki in terms of sales and the launch of the hybrid version of the SUV will not only attract more customers to the Toyota showroom, but it will also improve the brand image and recognition.
