Toyota latest announcement has revealed the prices of the base E variant along with those of the S, G and V(manual) versions powered by the mild-hybrid powertrain option.
The base E variant of the mild-hybrid Toyota Hyryder is only offered with a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive and is priced at Rs 10.48 lakh, which is Rs 3,000 more than the base variant of its sister car - the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
The S variant of the new mild-hybrid Hyryder is also only offered in FWD but comes in both manual and automatic guises. The manual S variant is priced at Rs 12.28 lakh while the automatic commands a price tag of Rs 13.48 lakh. The strong hybrid version of the S variant is priced at Rs 15.11 lakh.
The manual mild-hybrid version of the G variant of the Hyryder is priced at Rs 14.34 lakh while the automatic version is priced at Rs 15.54 lakh. The strong hybrid G variant of the Hyryder is priced at Rs 17.49 lakh.
The top variant of the new Hyryder is dubbed the V. The mild V variant is offered in both FWD and AWD guises with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The FWD version is priced at Rs 15.89 lakh while the AWD version is priced at Rs 17.19 lakh.
Announcing the prices Mr. Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales, and Strategic Marketing, TKM said "Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has ushered a new chapter of mobility experience in India with its exemplary performance, best in class fuel efficiency, connected car features. The tremendous appreciation that the new offering has received is truly encouraging. The initial price announcement of the top grades was well received, and we are certain that the prices of the remaining seven grades will also be enthusiastically welcomed."
The mild hybrid versions of the Hyryder command a premium between Rs 3,000 and Rs 50,000 over the equivalent Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, Toyota's strong hybrid variants which use the Japanese marque's self-developed strong hybrid tech are half a lakh rupees more affordable than their equivalent Suzuki Grand Vitara model.
The strong hybrid versions of the Hyryder are powered by a 1.5-litre three cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and a single electric motor. The engine produces 91.1bhp and 122Nm of peak torque while the motor delivers 79.1bhp and 141Nm of peak torque. Combined peak power is capped at 114bhp and the strong hybrid Hyryder delivers a mileage of 27.97km/l.
Thoughts About The Toyota Hyryder
The Toyota Hyryder along with its badge-swapped Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara sibling are the latest set of SUVs looking to knock the Hyundai Creta off the top spot in the compact SUV segment. Toyota has been very aggressive with its prices which hopefully means that we'll quite a few Hyryders on out streets in the very near future.
