Toyota & Maruti Suzuki’s Upcoming SUV To Rival The Likes Of Creta, Seltos, Kushaq, Astor, Taigun & More

In addition to that, the SUV was recently spotted testing on Indian roads, confirming that both companies are gearing up to launch the SUV in the Indian market. Apart from that, the vehicle has been codenamed 'D22' by Toyota, whereas the SUV is codenamed 'YFG' by Maruti Suzuki.

Recently, Toyota released a new teaser that features the Japanese automaker's upcoming new SUV. In addition to that, the new teaser was part of Toyota's new 'Hum Hai Hybrid' campaign.

This further strengthens the doubt that the upcoming SUV from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Toyota will sport a self-charging hybrid powertrain. Moreover, this campaign also aims to lay the foundation for Toyota's upcoming hybrid SUV.

According to a few sources, the upcoming hybrid SUV from Toyota and Maruti Suzuki will be unveiled before the end of June 2022. However, we expect Toyota's iteration to be launched initially.

A while ago, Toyota Yaris Cross was spotted testing in India and like the Yaris Cross, the upcoming C-segment SUV is said to be based on the same Toyota's international TNGA platform.

This means the upcoming Toyota D22 SUV and the Maruti Suzuki YFG SUV models are likely to feature the Toyota's tried-and-tested 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol engine as it is the same engine that powers the Toyota Yaris hatchback and Toyota Yaris Cross.

In that case, the 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine and the electric motor together produce 113.5bhp of peak power. Also, the torque generated by the petrol engine stands at 120Nm and the electric motor produces slightly more torque at 141Nm.

In addition to that, we expect the upcoming Toyota and Maruti Suzuki SUV to co,e packed with features such as a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, heads-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, cooled glove box, rear AC vents, an electric sunroof, and many more.

Speaking about hybrid cars, Toyota recently introduced its 2022 iteration of the Toyota Camry in India and the hybrid sedan features many updates on the outside and inside.

In terms of features, the 2022 Toyota Camry is equipped with features such as a new and improved infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 9-speaker JBL audio system, heads-up display, wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats with memory function, cruise control, electronic sunroof, three-zone climate control, power reclining rear seats, leather interiors, power sunshades for rear passengers and many more.

Powering the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid sedan is a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine with 175.5bhp of peak power. However, thanks to the assistance from the 160kW electric motor, the Camry produces a total of 215bhp.

Thanks to rising fuel prices, opting for a hybrid car has never made more sense till now. When launched, we expect the upcoming hybrid SUV from Toyota and Maruti Suzuki to quickly gain traction in the Indian market and become one of the best selling models in its segment.
