Toyota & Maruti Suzuki’s Upcoming SUV Engine Specs Leaked

While the Toyota's version of the SUV is codenamed 'D22', the Maruti Suzuki's version is internally known as 'YFG'.

Now, ahead of their debut, engine specs of these SUVs have been leaked online. According to the leaked information, the upcoming C-segment SUV from Toyota and Maruti Suzuki will come with two hybrid engine options.

While both these engines are 1.5-litre petrol units, one is a mild hybrid unit, whereas the other is a strong hybrid engine. In addition to this, the 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine puts out 101.6bhp of peak power and comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, the 1.5-litre strong hybrid unit produces a healthier 114.5bhp of peak power and comes mated to an eCVT gearbox. Apart from that, this engine also comes with an advanced self-charging capability in order to propel the SUV in fully electric mode for short distances.

The launch of the hybrid version of the SUV will not only attract more customers, but it will also improve the brand image and recognition.

Though Toyota is already a very strong brand in India with a very loyal customer base, the Japanese automaker is more renowned for its robustness than technology, despite being global in hybrid vehicles.

With the recently released 'Hum Hai Hybrid' campaign in India, Toyota aims to promote hybrid vehicles in the country and also aims to further improve its brand image.

Apart from this, it has come to know that the upcoming Toyota 'D22' hybrid SUV will be named 'Hyryder' in India and the hybrid SUV is also said to be launched slightly earlier than the Maruti Suzuki 'YFG'.

Also, in a twist of plot, the upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV and Maruti Suzuki 'YFG' SUV will be manufactured at the Toyota's state-of-the-art facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. Also, these SUVs are said to be based on Toyota's international TNGA platform that underpins other Toyota cars such as Toyota Yaris and Toyota Yaris Cross.

We also expect the upcoming Toyota and Maruti Suzuki SUV to come packed with features such as a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, heads-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, cooled glove box, rear AC vents, an electric sunroof, and many more.

In addition to this, both these SUVs will also come with top-notch safety features such as 6-airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control (TC), ESP, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors and much more.
