Toyota Land Cruiser India Launch Delayed: 4 Year Waiting Period
The previous generation of the Toyota Land Cruiser was one of the most capable SUVs on the planet and soon proved it was as reliable and tough as its predecessors. Apart from that, the 200 series Land Cruiser stayed in production for almost 13 years since its introduction in 2008.
So, when Toyota finally launched the 300 series Land Cruiser, the demand for the latest generation of the legendary Toyota SUV quickly went through the roof. However, the demand for the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser is likely to increase further as the model is yet to be introduced in the USA.
This means the demand for the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser is mainly from the Middle East, where the predecessors of the current generation Land Cruiser have been dominating the desert dunes.
As a result, the Japanese automobile giant has now confirmed the waiting periods for the latest generation of the Toyota Land Cruiser which may stretch up to 4 years.
This means the launch of the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser in India may stretch up to 2023 instead of the previously scheduled launch in 2022.
Speaking about the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser, the model is in its sixth generation starting from the 50 series models and the 300 series Land Cruiser model was introduced in mid-2021.
The latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser is roughly the same size as the model it replaces with an identical wheelbase of 2,850mm. However, the new model is 10mm wider and 5mm shorter than the 200 series Land Cruiser.
Apart from that, thanks to more sophisticated materials, car manufacturing processes and the new GA-F platform, Toyota has managed to decrease the kerb weight and improved the weight distribution of the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser while adding stiffness to the chassis.
Speaking about the design of the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser, it still looks like a Land Cruiser but looks a lot more sophisticated with crispier lines and sleeker-looking headlamps and taillamps.
However, it is on the inside, Toyota has made giant leaps. The interior of the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser looks at least two generations ahead of the model it replaces.
Apart from that, Toyota has also ditched the previous powertrains that were available with the 200 series Land Cruiser model. In the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota has developed two new V6 engines.
The turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine makes 409.32bhp and 650Nm of torque, whereas the 3.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine puts out 305bhp and 700Nm of torque. Both engine options come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Moreover, Toyota has also added a ton of electronics suite under the skin to make everything as effortless as possible.
Thoughts About The Latest Generation Of Toyota Land Cruiser
The interior of the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser looks at least two generations ahead of the model it replaces and the pair of new powertrains make the latest generation of Toyota Land Cruiser an irresistible choice for any Land Cruiser enthusiasts.
However, we expect Toyota to update its powertrains with some sort of electrification when it finally launches in India.
