Toyota Hyryder Spied During TVC Shoot: Debut On July 1
The upcoming new Toyota Hyrder has been spied recently during the TVC shoot of the SUV. Also, this is the first time the upcoming Toyota SUV has been spotted in the country.
Speaking about the Toyota Hyryder, the SUV is slated to make its debut on 1st of July and will rival the like of other SUVs in the segment such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and a few more SUVs.
Moreover, the SUV is jointly developed by both Toyota and Maruti Suzuki for the Indian market. This SUV is codenamed ‘D22' by Toyota and ‘YFG' by Maruti Suzuki.
Also, a recently leaked document revealed that the upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV will feature not one but two hybrid powertrains. While both these engines are 1.5-litre petrol units, one of the powertrains is a mild hybrid unit, whereas the other powertrain is a strong hybrid engine.
According to the leaked specifications, the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine puts out 101.6bhp of peak power and comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre strong hybrid unit produces a bit more peak power at 114.5bhp and comes mated to an eCVT gearbox.
In addition to that, the 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine also comes with an advanced self-charging capability in order to propel the SUV in fully electric mode for short distances.
The launch of the hybrid version of the SUV will not only attract more customers, but it will also improve the brand image and recognition.
Though both brands co-developed the hybrid SUV, Toyota's version of the hybrid SUV will be launched slightly earlier than Maruti Suzuki's version as expected.
In terms of features, the upcoming Toyota Hyryder hybrid SUV is likely to sport a long feature list which includes features such as a 9.0-inch large touchscreen infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, 360-degree surround-view camera, climate control, wireless charging, air purifier, electric sunroof and much more.
In addition to that, we also expect both the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki YFG SUV to feature 6 airbags as standard and come with other safety systems such as ABS, EBD, traction control (TC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability program (ESP), rear parking sensors, rear view camera and much more.
Recently, Toyota released the ‘Hum Hai Hybrid' campaign in India to promote hybrid vehicles in the country. Moreover, we suspect this campaign was aimed to lay a strong foundation for the upcoming Toyota Hyryder hybrid SUV.
Thoughts About The Toyota Hyryder SUV
The launch of the Toyota Hyryder SUV will not only attract more customers to the Toyota badge, but it will also improve the brand image and recognition. Also, thanks to rising fuel prices and the growing trend for SUVs, we expect Toyota's upcoming Hyryder hybrid SUV to quickly gain traction in the Indian market. However, the Indian market is very sensitive to pricing and Toyota has to price the upcoming SUV aggressively to make it immensely popular in the segment.
