1) Maruti Suzuki Wagon R - 16,814 units

Maruti Suzuki's sold 16,814 units of the WagonR tall boy hatchback in the month of May 2022. This was a massive 706 per cent (14,702 units) gain compared to the month of May 2021, when Maruti only sold 2,086 units of the Wagon R.

2) Tata Nexon - 14,614 units

The month of May was a record-breaking one for both Tata Motors and the Nexon SUV. Tata recorded its best month of sales of the Nexon, selling 14,614 units of the Nexon, which is offered in petrol, diesel and EV guises. May also saw Tata launch the new Nexon EV Max, an EV version of the SUV with a claimed range of 437km on a single charge. Sales of the Nexon rose 127 per cent Year-over-Year compared to May 2021, when Tata only sold 6,439 units of the SUV.

3) Maruti Suzuki Swift - 14,133 units

The Maruti Suzuki Swift roared back into the top 10 in May 2022 with the nation's largest carmaker selling 14,133 units of the hatchback. The sales of the Swift were up 102 per cent (7128 units) compared to the same period in 2021 when Maruti sold 7,005 units of the hatch.

4) Maruti Suzuki Baleno - 13,970 units

The recently updated Baleno was another one of the high gainers in the month of May 2022 with Maruti Suzuki selling 13,970 units of its most premium hatchback in the Indian market. This was a 191 per cent (9,167 units) gain over May 2021, when Maruti only sold 4,803 units of the Baleno.

5) Maruti Suzuki Alto - 12,933 units

The Maruti Suzuki Alto bounced back up in May to capture the 5th spot on our list. 12,933 units of the entry-level Alto hatchback hit our roads in May 2022. This was a 302 per cent (,713 units) rise in sales compared to May 2021, when the pandemic ensured that only 3,220 units of the Alto reached new homes.

6) Maruti Suzuki Ertiga - 12,226 units

Maruti launched the new facelifted Ertiga in May and the MPV continues to perform well in the sales charts. Sales of the Ertiga in May 2022 grew by 354 per cent (9,532 units) compared to the same period last year when Maruti only sold 2,694 units of the MPV.

7) Maruti Dzire - 11,603 Units

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the only sedan to make it onto this list. Maruti sold 11,603 units of the compact sub 4-metre sedan in India. This was a 99 per cent (5,784 units) increase over May 2021 when Maruti sold 5,819 units of the Dzire hatchback.

8) Hyundai Creta - 10,973 units

The Hyundai Creta is only the second non-Maruti vehicle on the list. South Korean carmaker Hyundai sold 10,973 units of the Creta in May 2022, which was a 46 per cent (3,3446 units) increase compared to the same month last year. In May 2021, Hyundai sold a total of 7,527 units.

9) Maruti Suzuki Eeco - 10,482 units

The Maruti Suzuki is the most popular new van sold in India today. Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 10,482 units of the Eeco van in India last month. This was an 856 per cent increase (9,386 units) over the same period last year, when Maruti sold only 1,096 units of the Eeco van.

10) Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza - 10,312 units

Maruti Suzuki is readying the next-gen Vitara Brezza for launch at the end of June. Last month, Maruti sold 10,312 units of the Brezza SUV, which was 289 per cent (7,664 units) increase over May 2021's sales numbers for the Vitara Brezza. In May last year, Maruti sold 2,648 unis of the Brezza.
