The Hyundai Aura is a compact sedan based on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback. That being said, Tata Motors has also launched the CNG variant of the Tata Tigor in India.
So, which one is the better CNG hatchback in India? To know, we shall compare both these CNG hatchbacks in terms of their Design, Features, Powertrain, Safety and Price.
Design
In terms of the design, the CNG variant of the Tata Tigor looks identical to its petrol-powered counterpart albeit with the addition of 'i CNG' badging to distinguish itself from the standard petrol-powered variant.
Like the Tata Tigor, the CNG version of the new Hyundai Aura also looks identical to the conventional petrol-powered Hyundai Aura.
However, the Hyundai Aura looks a bit more stylish in comparison to the Tata Tigor. However, at the end of the day, looks are highly subjective and your preferences depend upon your personal taste.
Features
In terms of features, the CNG variant of the Tata Tigor comes equipped with features such as Projector headlamps, LED DRLs, Rear wash wiper with defogger, 7-inch Harman infotainment system with 8-speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power windows, central door locking, electrically adjustable ORVMs and many more. Moreover, the CNG variant of the Tata Tigor is available in two different trim levels.
While the standard version of the Hyundai Aura comes loaded with features such as a bigger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, cruise control and more.
The CNG Variant Of the Hyundai Aura is available in just one variant and comes equipped with essential features such as a 2-DIN music system, seat height adjustment, keyless entry, rear AC vents, power windows, central door locking, and a few more.
This means both models are decently equipped. However, it is the Tata Tigor that manages to breeze past the Hyundai Aura in terms of features.
Powertrain
The Tata Tigor uses the same tried-and-tested 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine as its petrol-powered counterparts. This engine produces 84.82bhp and 113Nm of torque in standard form, with the CNG fuel, this engine produces slightly lower power and torque outputs at 73bhp and 95Nm of torque.
Unlike the petrol-powered versions of the Tata Tigor, the CNG versions of the Tata Tigor comes with the 5-speed manual transmission as standard.
Like the Tata Tigor, the new Hyundai Aura CNG also uses the same engine as its petrol-powered counterpart. However, the 1.2-litre engine in the Hyundai Aura produces 81.86bhp and 113Nm of torque in standard guise, whereas the power and torque figures are slightly down at 72bhp and 95Nm of torque while using the CNG fuel.
Both the CNG variants of the Tata Tigor and the new Hyundai Aura come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox and factory-fitted CNG tank. However, the CNG tank of the Hyundai Aura is 5-litre larger at 65-litres.
Safety
The newly launched CNG version of the Tata Tigor is among the safest cars in India as the conventional variant of the Tata Tigor has scored a respectable 4-star safety rating for adult protection by Global-NCAP.
Apart from that, the CNG variant of the Tata Tigor comes equipped with safety features such as ABS with EBD, dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, cornering stability control, speed-sensitive auto door lock and many more.

Thoughts About CNG Variants of The Tata Tigor & The Hyundai Aura
As the CNG cars produce far fewer pollutants and give astonishingly good fuel economy without sacrificing too much performance, opting for the CNG variants of cars makes good sense.
However, choosing between the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor is a bit more tricky and boils down to your preference and priority.
