Tata Tiago EV Bookings Cross 20,000 Units In Under 2 Months

India's leading passenger EV manufacturer Tata Motors has received over 20,000 bookings for the Tiago EV less than two months after its launch. The Tata Tiago EV at the time of its launch was the nation's most affordable EV.
Tata Motors had launched the Tiago EV at the end of September at an introductory starting price of 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 units which ensured a frenzy of bookings when they were opened on the 10th of October.
However, Tata Motors announced a day after the opening of bookings that all 10,000 units had been booked within a period of 24 hours. With the demand for the Tiago EV still going strong, Tata extended the introductory offer for the next 10,000 bookings.
Bookings for the Tata Tiago EV have now crossed the 20,000 mark and deliveries of the electric hatchback will commence in January 2022. The Tiago EV is the most affordable EV from Tata's electric portfolio and will be the last Gen 1 electric vehicle the Mumbai-based carmaker will build.
The Tata Tiago EV is offered two different battery pack options. The smaller of the two battery packs is a 19.2kWh unit with an MIDC range of 250km on a single charge. The electric motor on this version of the Tiago EV produces 60bhp and 105Nm of peak torque.
The larger battery pack option for the Tiago EV is a 24kWh unit with an MIDC range of 315 kilometres. The higher-specced Tiago EV's single electric motor delivers 74bhp and 114Nm of peak torque.
The Tiago EV is based on Tata's Ziptron high-voltage electrical architecture and supports 50kW DC fast charging. When connected to a 50kW DC fast charger, the Tiago EV's battery pack can go from 10 to 80 per cent in just 57 minutes.
The Tata Tiago EV is offered with two onboard charger options with different charging speeds. The 19.2kWh battery version of the Tiago EV is only offered with the less powerful 3.3kW onboard charger.
The larger battery pack version of the Tiago EV is offered with either the 3.3kW charger or a faster 7.2kW AC fast charger which can fully charge up the battery in just over three and a half hours.
Thoughts About The Tata Tiago EV's Record-Breaking Bookings
The response to the launch of the Tata Tiago EV has been phenomenal and shows that if priced right an EV could do very well in the Indian market.
