Tata Nexon EV Prime Launched - Multi-Mode Regen, Cruise Control, TPMS & More

These above-mentioned features were previously not available on the standard Nexon EV and were exclusive to the newly launched Tata Nexon EV Max.

However, these features will be now made available to existing Tata Nexon EVs as well through an update. Moreover, this update will be made free of charge. To avail this update, existing Tata Nexon EV customers can visit the nearest Tata dealership from 25th July onwards.

In addition to that, we expect the company to install all the necessary hardware and related components to make these additional features work. However, we suspect these physical components will be charged.

In their social media update, Tata Motors mentioned the "First software update will be free of charge". This raised a question regarding future updates and the cost behind those updates.

Mr Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, "The Nexon EV has captured the imagination of the entire nation and has consistently led the way in the electric vehicle segment since its launch. It is the default choice for EV intenders with a market share of over 65%. With the Nexon EV Prime we expect to further strengthen our strategy of keeping our product offerings New Forever. Further with this software update to current owners we are setting new benchmark of what customers can expect as part of Tata EV ownership experience."

Recently, the prices of the Tata Nexon EV have been increased once again by the automaker and thanks to this latest price hike, the prices for the Tata Nexon EV now start from Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Moreover, prices for a few variants of the electric version of the Nexon SUV were hiked up to Rs 60,000.

In addition to that, the top-of-the-line Tata Nexon EV Max XZ+ LUX variant with 7.2kW charging is now priced at Rs 19.84 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Earlier, this particular model was priced at Rs 19.24 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

It is also worth mentioning that the claimed range on the Tata Nexon EV Max is around 430km per full charge and the EV can do 0-100km/h sprint in under 9 seconds. Also, the topspeed of the Tata Nexon EV Max is claimed to be 140km/h.

Though Tata Nexon EV does not have any direct competitors, we expect the model to have real competition very soon in form of the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 Electric. However, the model still has to compete with EVs such as Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV.

Thanks to this update, the existing Tata Nexon EV customers can also enjoy the features that were previously available to the Tata Nexon EV Max customers.
