Tata Motors Sells Record 45,197 Units In June 2022 - Sales Up By 87.46% Y-o-Y
Indian carmaker Tata Motors has revealed its June 2022 sales numbers. Tata Motors sold a record total of 45,197 passenger vehicles in the month of June 2022, which was the carmaker's best performance in the passenger vehicle market to date.

Year-over-Year metrics for Tata Motors were in the black with sales rising by 87.46 per cent (21,087 units) compared to the same period last year. In June 2021, Tata Motors only sold 24,110 passenger vehicles in India as the nation held on for dear life during the pandemic.

In terms of Month-over-Month metrics, Tata Motors grew by 4.28 per cent (1,856 units) in June 2022 compared to the month of May. In May 2022, Tata Motors sold a total of 43,341 passenger vehicles in India. However, Tata's record numbers from last month were not enough for the Mumbai-based carmaker to hold back Hyundai. The South Korean carmaker sold 49,001 units in June 2022 to take back the second spot on the sales charts.

Tata also released its sales numbers for the first quarter of the financial year 2022-23 with the carmaker selling 2,25,828 units from the 1st of April to the 30th of June, 2022. Y-o-Y numbers for the first quarter were up by 110 per cent (1,18,042 units) compared to the first quarter of 2021-22.

However, compared to the final quarter of 2021-22, Tata's numbers were down by 3 per cent (7,250 units) Quarter-over-Quarter. Tata Motors sold a total of 2,33,078 units from January 1st to March 31st, 2022.

Tata's commercial vehicles division also enjoyed a stellar month of sales in June growing 69 per cent (15,165 units) Y-o-Y to 37,265 units (domestic and exports) in June 2022. Over the same period in 2021, Tata sold 22,100 commercial vehicles.
Tata's CV sales were also in the black in Month-over-Month metrics rising by 4 per cent (4,447 units) compared to May 2021, when the automaker sold 32,818 commercial vehicles.

Tata's commercial vehicles division sold a total of 1,00,921 units in the first quarter of 2022-23. This marked a Y-o-Y growth of 101 per cent (50,776 units) compared to the same period in the last financial year when it sold 50,145 units. However, Quarter-over-Quarter numbers were down by 16 per cent (18,949 units) compared to Q4 2021-22 when Tata sold 1,19,870 commercial vehicles.

Tata Motors continued its record-shattering sales in the passenger vehicles division in June 2022 selling a total of 45,197 cars in India. With its EVs growing in popularity and petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari set to arrive soon, we expect Tata to grow from strength to strength in the future.
