Tata Harrier & Safari SUVs Now Manufactured By All-Women Team
Tata Motors has now announced that its flagship SUVs - the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari will be manufactured and assembled by an all-women team. Diving into the details, a team of 1,500 professional women will be responsible for making both these SUVs.
Moreover, it is also worth mentioning that Tata Motors has recently acquired Ford's manufacturing plant in the country, and it too will have a female workforce on the floor once it commences operation in 2023.
By bringing female workforce into historically male-dominated jobs, companies like Tata Motors and Ola Electric are erasing the gender inequality in job roles related to the automotive industry.
Recently, MG Motor India also rolled out its 50,000th MG Hector SUV with its all-women workforce at its Vadodara manufacturing plant. This all-women team were involved in various departments such as panel-pressing, welding, painting and more. In fact, some of them were even involved in post-production runs as well.
Coming back to Tata Safari and Tata Harrier, both SUVs are powered by the same tried-and-tested turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine. This powertrain produces a healthy 167.67bhp at 3,750 rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. Apart from that, this diesel engine can be specified with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Moreover, both the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier SUVs come loaded with features such as a semi-digital instrument console, a large 9-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, iRA connected car tech, multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), smart keyless entry, push-button start/stop, power-operated ORVMs, auto-folding ORVMs, cruise control and many more.
Apart from that, it is also worth mentioning that, a few special edition variants of the Tata Safari comes equipped with ventilated seats on the second row as well - A useful feature for chauffeured cars.
Both the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier SUVs sport a similar set of safety features and both SUVs come equipped with safety systems such as 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, ABS with EBD, auto-dimming IRVM and many more.
As per the official ARAI figures, the Tata Safari's fuel-efficiency figure stands at 16.14 km/l for variants equipped with the manual transmission, whereas the fuel efficiency figure for the automatic variants stands at 14.08km/l.
On the other hand, the fuel efficiency figure for the Tata Harrier stands at 16.35km/l for the manual variant, whereas the automatic variant of the Tata Harrier returns a fuel efficiency of 14.6km/l.
