Skoda Hikes Prices Of Kushaq SUV Up To Rs 70,000

This is the second time Skoda has hiked the prices of the Skoda Kushaq SUV in India and like the Skoda Kushaq, prices of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV was also hiked in the country.

However, Skoda has introduced two new variants of the Skoda Kushaq SUV in India and thanks to the new base variant, prices for Skoda Kushaq SUV now starts from just Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

These two new variants of the Skoda Kushaq include 'Active Peace' and 'Ambition Classic', both of which are offered by Skoda to keep the prices attractive.

Speaking about the new base variant, the Active Peace variant is only available with a 1.0-litre TSI engine and it is priced around Rs 1.30 lakh less than the 'Active' trim level. To achieve this aggressive pricing, Skoda has deleted the infotainment screen and speakers from the SUV.

On the other hand, the new Ambition Classic variant of the Skoda Kushaq sits just below the 'Ambition' trim level and it is also available with a 1.0-litre TSI engine. However, both manual and automatic gearbox options are available with this variant.

Thanks to the price hike, the Active trim is now costlier by Rs 30,000 and carries a price tag of Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Whereas, the Ambition variant of the Skoda Kushaq SUV has been priced at Rs 12.99 lakh for the manual variant and Rs 14.99 lakh for the automatic variant.

Apart from that, the top-of-the-line Style variant with the 1.5 TSI engine and manual gearbox is now Rs 70,000 more expensive and retails for Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On the other hand, the automatic variant is now priced at Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India) - which is around Rs 60,000 more expensive.

Apart from this, Skoda is also gearing up to launch the new Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition in the country. This special edition of the Skoda Kushaq SUV features changes on both the exterior and interior as well.

The most noticeable change on the new Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition is the blacked-out treatment and a set of new 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, both of these give the SUV a sportier appeal.

This sporty theme continues inside as well with the inclusion of red-black dual-tone interior theme. This dual-tone theme extends down to the upholstery, dashboard, centre console, seats, and infotainment graphics.

Moreover, the new Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition also gets a very modern-looking fully digital instrument cluster. However, colour choices are limited as the Monte Carlo Edition of the Kushaq is limited to just two exterior colour options - Red, and White.

Speaking about the Czech SUV, the Skoda Kushaq comes with two engine options. The base engine is a frugal 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine with 115bhp of power and 178Nm of torque. Whereas the second engine option is a more potent 1.5-litre TSI engine with 150bhp of power and 250Nm of torque.

The Czech automaker has once again gained traction in the Indian automotive market thanks to the launch of the Skoda Kushaq SUV.

However, the Kushaq SUV sits in one of the most competitive segments and the recent price hike may put the SUV on the back foot. However, the newly introduced variants keep the pricing even more aggressive to attract more customers.
