Renault-Nissan Alliance Plant Produces 35 Lakh Powertrains: 23 Lakh Engines & 12 Lakh Gearboxes
Renault-Nissan's alliance manufacturing plant at Oragadam, Chennai has produced a milestone 35 lakh powertrain units since the start of production back in 2010.
Dissecting the numbers, Renault Nissan's Organdam manufacturing plant has produced 23 Lakh units of engines and 12 Lakh units of gearboxes for both Renault and Nissan.
In the present scenario, Renault-Nissan's Organdam manufacturing plant has the capacity to produce 6 engine variants and 4 types of gearbox for its powertrains. Apart from that, this manufacturing facility produces powertrains for both domestic and international markets.
Recently, Renault launched a new special edition variant of the Triber MPV as part of the celebration of achieving a one lakh sales milestone for Renault Triber MPV in India.
According to the French automaker, this limited edition of the Renault Triber is available for booking at all Renault retail outlets across the country. The limited edition variant of the Renault Triber is actually based on the second-from-top RxT trim level.
However, the limited edition costs around Rs 28,000 more than the standard RxT trim of the Renault Triber MPV and has been priced at Rs 7.24 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Speaking about the Renault Triber MPV, it is one of the safest 7-seater cars you can buy in the country today with a 4-Star safety rating for Adult Occupant Protection from Global-NCAP and powering this MPV is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 71.01bhp of peak power and 96Nm of peak torque.
The gearbox option on the new limited-edition Renault Triber continues to be a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
Speaking about Nissan, their sub-4m SUV, Nissan Magnite has been a game-changer for the brand in India and the SUV recent,y scored a 4-Star safety rating at the Global-NCAP.
Also, the Nissan Magnite is equipped long list of safety systems such as dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitor, brake assist, traction control, stability control, hill start assist, and many more.
Moreover, the Nissan Magnite is built on the CMF-A+ platform that underpins the Renault Triber and the platform itself is a derivative of the CMF-A platform that underpins the Renault Kwid.
The Nissan Magnite comes with two engine options in India and the base engine is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 72bhp of peak power and 96Nm of peak torque. Though this engine may seem underpowered on paper for an SUV, the light kerb weight of the Nissan Magnite ensures decent performance.
The next engine option is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 98.6bhp of peak power and 160Nm of peak torque (152Nm of torque in CVT gearbox variant). Gearbox options include 5-speed manual transmission or a silky-smooth CVT.
Thoughts About Renault-Nissan Manufacturing Plant Producing 35 Lakh Powertrain Units
The Renault-Nissan alliance have seen many ups and downs in the Indian automotive market. Despite these ups and downs, the alliance is looking strong and the 35 Lakh milestone is a testament to the alliance's strong foundation in the Indian and global markets.
