The M in the Ferrari Portofino M's name stands for Modificata and was the Italian supercar manufacturer's way of differentiating the new car from its predecessor. The Italian word 'modificata' translates to modified and many tuners have jumped on Ferrari's entry-level open-top supercar. The latest to jump on the bandwagon is German tuner Novitec.
The Novitec Ferrari Portofino gets a host of cosmetic upgrades, a bit more power and the usual special from the German tuner, a brand new exhaust system that turns the volume level up to 11.
Novitec Ferrari Portofino M Power Upgrade
Novitec offers the customers with a Portofino M with three power levels. The most potent of the three power options ups the output from the Portofino M's twin-turbo 3.9-litre V8 engine from 611bhp and 760Nm to a more potent 694bhp and 882Nm of peak torque.
This achieved using thermally-insulated 100-cell sports catalysts and a plug and play Novitec N-Tronic module that introduces newly programmed maps for injection, boost pressure and ignition control into the electronic engine management system.
When the power is sent to the rear wheels via Ferrari's 8-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, the Novitec tuned Portofino M hits 100km/h from standstill in just 3.16 seconds (up from the stock car's 3.45 seconds). 0-200km/h is dealt with in just 9.4 seconds and the top speed of Novitec Ferrari Portofino M is 325km/h (up by 5km/h).
For those who feel that the max power upgrade is a bit too much, Novitec offers two lower power levels. The base upgrade for the Portofino M ups the power to 679bhp and 851Nm of peak torque. The mid-level power upgrade increases the output to 689bhp and 877Nm of peak torque.
Novitec Ferrari Portofino M Design Upgrades
The Novitec Portofino M is offered with a host of carbon fibre bits that help enhance the look of the drop-top supercar. These carbon fibre parts include bits like the front splitter lip, air intake surrounds, bonnet vents, front fender vents, mirrors covers, side skirts and the rear spoiler lip.
Novitec has also lowered the Portofino M by 35mm using sports springs. For those who ordered the car from factory with Ferrari's magnetic ride control system, can opt for the sports springs with a hydraulic front-lift system that raises the front end by 40mm at the press of a button to deal with speed bumps.
The tuner further complimented the lowered ride by fitting the supercar with forged alloy wheels developed in cooperation with Vossen that are available in a staggered combination of 21 and 22-inch wheels for the front and rear axle, respectively. Tyre sizes for these wheels are 255/30 ZR 21 for the front axle and 315/25 ZR 22 at the rear.
For those looking for more custom interior, Novitec offers a selection leathers. Alcantara is offered in a an endless variety of colours for those looking to go a bit wild.
