Nissan Magnite, Kicks Prices Hiked: Price Hike Up To Rs 25000

Like many automakers, Nissan India has also revised the prices of its model lineup for 2022 and some models witness a price hike up to Rs 25,000.

At present, Nissan India offers three vehicles in India - Magnite, Kicks, and GT-R. Out of these models, the Nissan GT-R is a CBU model.

The Nissan Magnite SUV has seen a maximum price hike of Rs 9,500, whereas the bigger Nissan Kicks SUV has witnessed a price hike up to Rs 25,000.

Nissan Magnite SUV is currently available in 10 different variants in India. XE, XL, XL Turbo, and XL Turbo CVT variants of the Nissan Magnite SUV received the least price hike of Rs 5,500, whereas the rest of the variants have witnessed a price hike of Rs 9,000.

These variants include XV, XV Premium, XV Turbo, XV Premium Turbo, XV Turbo CVT and XV Premium Turbo CVT.

Prices for the Nissan Magnite now starts from Rs 5,76,500(ex-showroom, India) for the base XE variant, whereas the top-of-the-line XV Premium Turbo CVT now costs Rs 9,98,000 (ex-showroom, India).

The Nissan Kicks on the other hand is available in 8 different trim levels. While the base XL 1.5 and XV 1.5 variant prices remain unchanged, the top-end XV Premium 1.3 CVT variant gets costlier by Rs 25,000 and it is now priced at Rs 14,90,000 (ex-showroom, India).

The remaining 5 variants of the Nissan Kicks SUV have witnessed a price hike of Rs 20,000.

In December 2021, thanks to the contribution of Magnite and Kicks SUV, Nissan India witnessed a YoY sales growth of 159.71 per cent by selling 3,010 units.

Moreover, Nissan India sold 27,965 units from April 2021 to December 2021. This means Nissan India witnessed a sales growth of almost 323 per cent compared to 6,609 units sold during the same time period in 2020.

Nissan Magnite could be credited for the sudden change of tides for Nissan in India, the compact SUV has racked up more than 75,000 bookings to date.

Speaking about Nissan Magnite, the compact SUV is built on the CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the Renault Triber and the platform itself is a derivative of the CMF-A platform that underpins the Renault Kwid.

The Nissan Magnite also scored four stars in ASEAN NCAP crash testing despite being one of the lightest vehicles in its class.

The engine options for Nissan Magnite includes a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 72bhp and 96Nm of torque. There is also a more powerful turbocharged engine with identical displacement.

The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 98.6bhp and 160Nm of torque (152Nm of torque in CVT gearbox variant). Gearbox options include 5-speed manual transmission and CVT gearbox.

Thoughts About Nissan India

With the launch of the Nissan Magnite SUV in India, Nissan has witnessed a change of tides in the company's favour in India. Moreover, the price hike on Nissan Magnite SUV is just marginal and it is highly unlikely to affect the buying decision of most customers.

However, Nissan Kicks on the other hand has witnessed a substantial price hike in comparison but not as much so to affect the buying decision.
