Next-Generation Suzuki Swift Spied Testing Again

The next-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback has been spotted testing once again. This new generation Suzuki Swift hatchback has been spotted testing alongside the current-generation model. We are expecting this fourth-generation Suzuki Swift to be launched before mid-2023 in the international markets.

A few weeks earlier, the first spied pictures of the 2023 Suzuki Swift was taken in Europe and it seems that the Japanese automaker is doing road tests for the upcoming Suzuki Swift hatchback.

However, in both these testings, the next-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback sports a heavy camouflage over its exterior, but despite the camouflage stickers on the upcoming Suzuki Swift hatchback, we can spot and identify few changes.

These changes are especially visible when the next-generation Suzuki Swift was pictured alongside the outgoing iteration of the Suzuki Swift. However, despite these extensive changes, the next-generation Suzuki Swift features evolutionary design changes only.

Thanks to this evolutionary approach in design language, the upcoming next-generation Suzuki Swift cannot be mistaken for anything other than a Suzuki Swift hatchback.

Coming to these evolutionary design changes, the next-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback seems to sport pulled-back headlamps, and comes with a strong shoulder line that neatly merges with the tail lamp. Also, the rear of the newt-generation Swift reminds us a lot of the first-generation Suzuki Swift as well.

Other design traits on the next-generation Suzuki Swift include a new SUV-like clamshell bonnet, large front grille, DRLs positioned under the headlamps, large outside rear-view mirrors, lower and wider air intakes, more pronounced wheel arches, larger alloy wheels, and a large roof-mounted spoiler as well.

Looking at the outgoing iteration of the Suzuki Swift and the next-generation Suzuki Swift in a single image, the upcoming iteration of the Suzuki Swift seems a lot more mature in its design with a flatter bonnet and nose section.

In addition to that, the wheelbase seems to have been slightly stretched as well to improve interior space and high-speed stability. Moreover, the upcoming iteration of the Suzuki Swift seems to be slightly wider and a tad bit lower as well.

It is also worth mentioning that the next-generation Suzuki Swift will be featuring a more conventional type of door handles for the rear door. This eliminates the boyish character of the hatchback and gives it a more upmarket stance as well.

In terms of features, we expect the next-generation Suzuki Swift to come packed with a long list of features and advanced safety systems. Also, the 2023 Suzuki Swift will be based on an advanced version of Suzuki's Heartect platform with more emphasis on safety. We expect the feature list of the upcoming Swift to mimic the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno with features such as a 360-degree surround-view camera, heads-up display, rear AC vents, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a few more as well.

At present, the Maruti Suzuki Swift in India is powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine with 89bhp of power and 113Nm of peak torque. Also, this engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

In international markets, the Suzuki Swift is available with a choice of two engines. This includes the above-mentioned 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine, and a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged engine with 110bhp of power and 160Nm of torque.

We expect the next-generation Swift to be powered by the same 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine as the outgoing iteration to simplify production. However, there could be a possibility of a change in gearbox options.

It is also worth mentioning that, the Suzuki Swift Sport that is available in the international market comes with a more powerful 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine produces 128bhp of peak power and 230Nm of torque.
