Maserati GranTurismo Specs

The Maserati GranTurismo is offered in three guises - Modena, Trofeo and Folgore. The Modena and Trofeo are powered by the Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine while the Folgore (Italian for lightning) sports an EV setup. All three models of the new GranTurismo from Maserati feature four-wheel drive as standard with the V6 engine models sporting an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

In terms of power levels, the Modena is the entry-level variant of the GranTurismo. Maserati's 3.0-litre twin-turbo 90-degree V6 Nettuno engine produces 483bhp at 6,500rpm and 600Nm of peak torque at just 3,000rpm. The Maserati GranTurismo Modena sprints from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds and hits 200km/h in 13 seconds. The top speed of the Modena variant is 302km/h.

The GranTurismo Trofeo is offered a more potent version of Maserati's twin-turbo V6 engine that pushes out 542bhp at 6,500rpm and 650Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm. The Trofeo variant sprints from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and will hit 200km/h in 11.4 seconds. The top speed of the GranTurismo Trofeo is 320km/h.

The Folgore is the most powerful of the trio that makes up the new GranTursimo lineup. The GranTurismo Folgore draws power from three electric motors that produce 750bhp and 1,350Nm of peak torque. This extra power and torque propels the rather heavy Folgore (2,260kg vs 1,795 for the V6 models) from 0-100km/h in just 2.7 seconds with 200km/h coming up in just 8.8 seconds. The top speed of the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore is 320km/h.

The reason for the extra weight of the Folgore is the 83kWh (usable) battery pack that delivers a range of 450 kilometres on a single charge. The battery pack supports extremely fast charging speeds and when hooked up to a 270kW DC charger allows the electric super GT to recuperate 100 kilometres of range in just 5 minutes.

The new GranTurismo features Brembo brakes all around. The front end features 380mm discs clamped by 6-piston fixed callipers while the rears sport 350mm discs clamped by 4-piston fixed callipers. The Folgore model also features four levels of regenerative braking that help it recharge its battery pack whenever the four-seat GT slows down.

Maserati GranTurismo Styling & Features

The new Maserati GranTurismo's styling follows in the footsteps of the MC20 supercar and the new Grecale SUV with the vertical arrangement of the headlights. The new GranTurismo also sports a clamshell bonnet and an oval grille (blocked off in the Folgore model) with Maserati's iconic Trident logo taking centre stage.

The sides of the car feature triple vents and the variant name on the wings with the electric variant sporting a different wheel design. The roof gently glides into the rear section of the Italian grand tourer with the boot lip sporting a spoiler element for the Trofeo model. The V6 models also sport quad exhausts to let the world hear the raucous engine.

Thoughts About The Maserati GranTursimo

The Maserati GranTurismo is the third new model from the trident-badged Italian marque and it is one of the best-looking grand tourers around. ICE fans should snap up the V6 models quickly as they will no longer be available in a few years, while those looking for max power should head down the EV route.
