Maruti Suzuki’s Upcoming Creta Rival Will Sport Hybrid Powertrain
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki's Creta rival will come with a self-charging hybrid powertrain. This upcoming midsize SUV is codenamed YFG and it is likely to be launched around the festive season this year.

Moreover, this upcoming SUV of Maruti Suzuki is developed alongside the Toyota's upcoming Creta rivalling SUV, codenamed ‘D22'. Both these SUVs will rival the likes of other C-segment SUVs in the segment such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and a few more.

Earlier, a few spy shots of the Maruti Suzuki YFG surfaced online and gave enthusiasts an idea about the SUV.

Coming back to the powertrain, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YFG SUV is likely to feature the Toyota's tried-and-tested 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol engine. As mentioned earlier, this engine along with more than a few other components will be shared with the upcoming Toyota D22 SUV.

Looking into the specifications of this engine, this 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine follows Atkinson Cycle for even better fuel efficiency. This internal combustion engine (ICE) along with the electric motor together produces a total of 113.5bhp of peak power.

Diving into the details of this hybrid power unit, the peak torque generated by the internal combustion engine stands at 120Nm, whereas the electric motor produces slightly more torque at 141Nm.

For a better perspective, this hybrid, 3-cylinder engine is the same powertrain that powers the Toyota Yaris hatchback and Toyota Yaris Cross in the international markets.

In addition to that, under the skin, both the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YFG SUV and Toyota D22 SUV are said to be based on Toyota's international TNGA platform.

In addition to that, we expect the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YFG SUV to come packed with features such as a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 360-degree surround-view camera, cooled glove box, rear AC vents, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, heads-up display, an electric sunroof, and many more.

Recently, Toyota also released a new teaser that featured the Japanese automaker's upcoming new SUV. In addition to that, the new teaser was part of the company's latest ‘Hum Hai Hybrid' campaign.

In addition to that, Toyota will launch its version of the Creta-rivalling SUV much before the launch of the Maruti Suzuki YFG in India.

Despite the hybrid powertrain, we expect the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YFG SUV to come with decent space on the inside and also sport a large enough boot for weekend getaways.

Thoughts About Maruti Suzuki's Upcoming Hybrid SUV
Thanks to rising fuel prices, opting for a hybrid car has never made more sense. When launched, we expect the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YFG to quickly gain traction in the Indian market and become one of the best selling models in its segment.
