Maruti Suzuki Sold Almost 1.5 Lakh Vehicles In September 2022 - More Than 135% YoY Growth Registered
Maruti Suzuki is currently the biggest car manufacturer in India, and the Indo-Japanese automaker further extended its lead over its competitors by managing to sell 1,48,380 units of its passenger vehicles in September 2022. In comparison, the company managed to sell just 63,111 units of its passenger vehicles in September 2021. As such, the YoY sales figures for the automaker stood at a very impressive 135.1 per cent.
One of the reasons for Maruti Suzuki's strong sales performance could be credited to recent updates and new launches. This allowed Maruti Suzuki to attract more customers and further improve its sales. Apart from that, we expect the sales figures to increase in the coming months as the company recently launched the much-awaited Grand Vitara SUV in India.
Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the SUV has already racked up more than 53,000 bookings and the model is available exclusively with hybrid engine options. In addition to that, the C-segment SUV also comes with an optional All-Wheel-Drive system.
Though the optional All-Wheel-Drive system may appeal to enthusiasts in the country, a majority of customers are interested in the hybrid powertrain options. Speaking of which, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV comes with two hybrid engine options - Mild hybrid, and strong hybrid.
The mild hybrid engine is the automaker's tried-and-tested 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine sports an Integrated starter generator and produces a total of 102bhp of peak power and 135Nm of peak torque. Whereas the strong hybrid powertrain is a 114bhp power unit sourced from Toyota. Moreover, the strong hybrid variant of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV can travel up to 25km on pure electric power.
Diving into the details of the strong hybrid engine, the internal-combustion engine is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, Atkinson-cycle, petrol engine producing 91bhp of peak power and 122Nm of peak torque. Apart from that, the electric motor that is part of the hybrid unit produces 78bhp of power and 144Nm of torque.
The mild-hybrid variant of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the strong hybrid variant of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV exclusively comes mated to an eCVT gearbox.
Thanks to the strong hybrid powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is currently the most fuel-efficient SUV available in India with a fuel efficiency figure of 28km/l.
In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV is the automaker's first model to feature a panoramic sunroof. Other noticeable features on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV include a heads-up display, a large 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, wireless charging, ambient lighting, all-LED lighting, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster and a lot more.
Coming to the safety features, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV comes equipped with safety systems such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill decent control, hill start assist, disc brakes on all four wheels, ESC, ISOFIX anchoring points and more.
At present, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV start from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the bookings for the SUV is now open and capped at Rs 11,000.
Thoughts About Maruti Suzuki
The recent new launched and updates have clearly helped Maruti Suzuki to further extend its lead over other car manufacturers. Moreover, with the launch of the Grand Vitara SUV, we expect the Indo-Japanese automaker to further increase its overall sales figures in the coming months.
