Maruti Suzuki Ertiga To Get More CNG Variants
India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce more CNG variants of the newly launched Ertiga. The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was launched last month with a revised design and more features.
India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce more CNG variants of the newly launched Ertiga. The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga featured three CNG variants when it was launched last month.
Now news has emerged that Maruti is set to introduce three new variants of the Ertiga. At launch, the Ertiga was offered in CNG guises in the following trim levels - VXi, ZXi, and Tour M.
An approval circular issued by the Transport Department of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has revealed that the nation's largest has three more CNG versions of the Ertiga ready to hit the market - VXi (O), ZXi (O) and Tour M (O).
The (O) trim levels have always allowed Maruti Suzuki customers to add the features they want for their new cars and the upcoming trim levels are expected to be a continuation of the same policy, this time for the new 2022 Ertiga.
This could mean that owners of the upcoming (O) CNG version of the Ertiga could opt for trim pieces like a leather wrapped steering wheel or add more safety features like the front side airbags and the rear parking camera.
Other options that could be added on include the Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment system which adds 40+ connected car features that can be accessed using the voice assistant activated using the 'Hey Suzuki' catchphrase. The infotainment system also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and can also connect with compatible smartwatches.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that is aided by a mild-hybrid system. The K15C engine produces 101.6bhp and 136.8Nm of peak torque when they run on petrol which comes down when the switch to CNG occurs.
CNG versions of the Ertiga are only offered with the 5-speed manual gearbox while the petrol offers the manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. CNG versions of the Ertiga return a mileage of 26.11km/kg while petrol versions return fuel efficiency figures of 20.51km/l (manual) and 20.3km/l (auto).
The new Ertiga for 2022 brings with a few cosmetic tweaks to differentiate it from its predecessor. These changes include a new grille draped in chrome and new dual-tone alloy wheels. Step inside and the changes are more visible in the form of the dual-tone upholstery and the updated 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display which sits on the centre of the dash with its faux wood finish.
The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes packed with safety features including up to 4 airbags (driver, front passenger, front sides), ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchors for child seats and rear parking sensors, speed alert system and a seatbelt reminder.
Thoughts On The Upcoming CNG Variants Of The New Ertiga
The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga arrived with three CNG variants at its launch last month. Now with the additional CNG versions, customers will be able to add more options to their new Ertiga which should attract even more buyers at Maruti's dealerships looking for a more affordable to run version of the MPV.
