Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 Features & Specs - Here’s What Mahindra Offers For 11.99 Lakh
Mahindra has launched the Scorpio N SUV in India with an aggressive starting price of just Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base 'Z2' trim equipped with the petrol engine.
Thanks to a combination of aggressive pricing and the confidence of customers in the automaker, the newly launched Mahindra Scorpio N SUV recorded 25,000 bookings in just 1 minute.
In addition to that, more than 1 lakh Mahindra Scorpio N SUVs were booked in just 30 minutes from opening the booking portal. In comparison, it took 1 hour for Mahindra XUV700 to record 25,000 bookings and another 2 hours to reach 50,000 bookings.
Such a dominant display of bookings is a new record number for Mahindra, and with such strong booking figures, it looks like the newly launched Scorpio N SUV has more than met the expectations of the company.
However, it is to be noted that the first 25,000 customers who booked the Scorpio N will get the SUV for the introductory prices. Moreover, this condition was previously announced by the automaker. That being said, the success of the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV could also be credited to the XUV700 SUV as the expectations for the Mahindra Scorpio N were based on the performance of the XUV700 SUV.
Now as delivery dates for the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV nears, the automaker is en route to producing 20,000 units of Scorpio N SUVs by the end of this year. However, the company later mentioned that the priority will be given to the 'Z8 L' trim level of the SUV - So customers who booked the Z8 L trim of the Scorpio N SUV are likely to get their vehicle sooner than others.
While it is clear that the base trim of the Mahindra Scorpio N won't be getting much of the features seen in the top-end trim of the SUV, here's what the Scorpio N Z2 has to offer with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 11.99 lakh.
Starting with the safety, Mahindra has not made any major cost-cuttings in this area and the Scorpio N Z2 SUV still comes with safety features such as ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ventilated disc brakes at front and rear, and ISOFIX anchoring points.
Coming to features, the Scorpio N Z2 comes with Start/Stop technology, 2nd row AC vents, a touchscreen infotainment screen with steering-mounted audio controls, USB charging port, a monochrome MID display, power windows, 1-touch tumble seat in the second row, skid plates, ORVM-mounted LED turn signals and a few more.
In terms of powertrain, the petrol engine is the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged unit with 200bhp of peak power and 370Nm of torque. However, the diesel unit is a slightly less powerful iteration compared to the higher trim levels. This 2.2-litre, turbocharged diesel engine in the Z2 trim level produces just 130bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque.
Apart from that, we expect the Z2 trim to sport a 'chrome-less' exterior. However, it is worth mentioning that these chrome elements can be easily added. Moreover, the base Z2 trim sports 17-inch steel wheels.
Thoughts About The Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 Trim (Base Variant)
Overall, at this price point, the Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 is fairly equipped. However, we do recommend opting for the Z4 trim considering the additional features it offers over the base Z2 trim.
