Mahindra Scorpio N Will Come With Three Engine Options
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio N will come with not two but three engine options. This includes one petrol and two diesel engines. The base diesel engine is likely to be the same engine that powers the Mahindra Thar. This 2.2-litre turbocharged unit produces 130bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque.
Though this engine comes with both manual and automatic gearbox options in the Mahindra Thar, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N with this diesel engine will come exclusively mated to a manual gearbox. Moreover, we do not expect Mahindra to equip the 4WD option with this powertrain.
The next diesel engine is a much more powerful 2.2-litre turbocharged unit with 172bhp of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque. However, this engine is limited produce 370Nm of torque in the variant equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission.
Apart from that, we also expect this powertrain setup to come with a 4WD option on both automatic and manual transmission variants.
Finally, the petrol engine in the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that with 197bhp of peak and 380Nm of torque. This engine can also be specified with either a 6-speed torque converter gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission. Moreover, the 4WD option is likely to be will be available with both gearbox options as well.
Speaking about 4WD, Mahindra had officially confirmed the existence of both 4WD and 2WD variants of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N. This information regarding the upcoming Scorpio N was confirmed via Instagram.
Earlier, a few officially revealed interior pictures of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N confirm that the 4WD version of the upcoming SUV gets both 4-high and 4-low gear ratios along with off-road modes.
Also, the all-wheel-drive system is called '4Xplore' and Mahindra has already trademarked the name, and the system also comes with 4 pre-set modes - Rough, Mud, Snow and Water.
Speaking a bit more about the 4WD option, this is not a system meant to look good in the brochure as Mahindra has equipped the 4WD variants with a lockable differential at the rear for improved off-road ability.
In terms of dimension, the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N is a really big SUV that is 4,662mm long, 1,917mm wide, 1,870mm tall, and sports a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Also, the new Mahindra Scorpio N can be specified either with a 2+2+2 or 2+2+3 seating arrangement, where the former gets 50:50 split seats and the latter gets 60:40 split seats.
In terms of features and luxury, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N sports premium-looking Brow and Black leather seats, a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, dual-zone climate controls, Sony speaker setup, wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, multiple USB ports, electric driver seat adjustment, electric sunroof, a rotary dial for off-road mode selection, and more.
However, the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N will not be offered with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
