Mahindra Teases 'Sporty' Electric SUVs
Indian carmaker Mahindra has released a new teaser for its upcoming electric SUV lineup ahead of the unveil on August 15th.
Indian carmaker Mahindra has released a new teaser for its upcoming electric SUV lineup ahead of the unveil on August 15th.
The new teaser video of the Mahindra Born Electric SUV range gives us a more detailed look into the thinking behind the new lineup of vehicle and teases that the first vehicle of the lineup will be a rather sporty one with the video showing visuals from the carmaker's Formula E racing team.
The video also connects the racing DNA with the upcoming lineup of SUVs by showing off the interior of the upcoming SUV with the rectangular race inspired steering wheel. Behind the steering sits a large display which will host the digital instrument cluster. The cabin features a split setup with properly split sections for the driver and the front passenger.
There are some more design cues about the upcoming electric SUV that shows a new focus on aerodynamics to ensure that the new SUV cuts through the air as smoothly as possible. The aerodynamic wheels should help the SUV smooth the air around the body of the SUV.
The video also gives us our first glimpse at former Tata Motors design boss Pratap Bose in his new role as the head of Mahindra Advanced Design Europe the studio which will be designing and developing the new lineup of Born Electric SUVs from Mahindra.
Previous teasers from Mahindra with regards to the upcoming Born Electric lineup have shown us more details about the electric SUVs. Previous videos about the electric SUV lineup have shown us three different sized SUVs with similar external design cues. Both the front and rear ends of all three SUVs show C-shaped lighting elements.
The largest of the three SUVs, which we believe is the one highlighted in the latest video, features connected headlights with a light bar that joins both C-shaped elements together. The largest SUV also features the same connecting element at the rear.
Another big update with regards to Mahindra's upcoming electric lineup of vehicles came in a little while ago when the carmaker joined hands with German automotive giant Volkswagen. The Mahindra and VW partnership will see the Indian automaker investigate the possibility of using the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform's parts for use in its own electric vehicles.
