Largest EV Charging Station In India Opens In Gurugram: Charge Up To 100 EVs Simultaneously
India's largest EV charging station has just been inaugurated. Operated by Alektrify, which is a tech-piloting company, the charging station boasts 100 charging points for four-wheelers. This makes it the largest such station in the country by a huge gap.
Electric vehicles are not just the future but are in the here and now replacing petrol/diesel-powered vehicles in large numbers. Of course, these numbers are expected to increase manifold in the near future, however, the numbers have grown significantly in the last couple of years.
The EVs that have already been bought by customers and the EVs that will eventually be bought, both need good charging infrastructure to keep these green vehicles going and that is exactly what manufacturers, companies, and state governments in India seem to be working on right now.
The new EV charging station is a big milestone for India in its electrification journey. It is located at the Delhi-Jaipur national highway in Sector 52 of Gurugram and has a capacity of charging up to 100 cars at a time. This capacity is brilliant as it can cater to a lot of EVs at once.
In a statement, the company said, "This EV charging station will not only boost electric vehicles industry in the region but will also act as a benchmark for large EV charging stations across the nation in future."
It has certainly set a benchmark as the previous EV charging station that was the largest in India was a station in Navi Mumbai, which had the capacity to charge 20 electric cars at once. It is a huge step up indeed.
In order to boost electrification, some governments and companies are working together to set up the necessary infrastructure and this infrastructure is slowly coming to life. More charging stations like these will eventually help ease the range anxiety that certain potential EV buyers still have.
The least-expensive electric car in the Indian market is the Tata Tigor EV with a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh. The Tigor EV boasts a range of just over 180 kilometres in real-world conditions. With such a range and multiple charging stations on highways, the Tigor EV can do hundreds of kilometres in a day.
Bigger and more pricier EVs are capable of going longer distances. Good EV development combined with an increase in the number of charging stations are bound to accelerate India's EV growth like no other.
Thoughts On India's Largest EV Charging Station Being Inaugurated
A charging station capable of powering 100 EVs at once is a huge milestone. Apart from making history, the charging station in Gurugram has now set a standard and we're hoping to see more such EV charging stations pop up across the country.
